04.15.15 | i refuse to rec u such a terrible genre |
SharkTooth
04.15.15 | an obvious start would be The Beach Boys' early material
(particularly any album with the word "surf" in its title) |
StallionMang
04.15.15 | Pulp Fiction soundtrack has some sick surf-y jams, other than that idk
Some old Beach Boys is alright I guess |
SharkTooth
04.15.15 | There's also this band called "Man or Astro-man?" that might be what you're looking for, check their earlier albums and see if you'll dig |
deathschool
04.15.15 | Mr. Bungle - California
BTMI - Vacation
Neither are strict surf rock by any stretch of the imagination, but both are heavily influenced by it and both are masterpieces. |

04.15.15 | Thanks for the pulp fiction rec. I feel like there has to be some hidden gem within this often annoying genre. I think if band mixed it with psychedelic such as tame impala the result could be cool

04.15.15 | Surfer blood is a great one, its very beach boys esque with some fuzzy emo thrown in for good measure. Another great one is best coast's recent material |

04.15.15 | Pixies - Bossanova [3]
I love California, but there's not enough surf rock on it for it to count. it's like on 3/10 songs and not even for their entirety since it they all change genre. |
GB7
04.15.15 | Can't talk about surf music without mentioning the king of the surf guitar, Dick Dale!
Also Satan's Pilgrims, The Atlantics, Fender IV, The Ghastly Ones, Man or Astroman, The Surf Coasters. |

04.15.15 | Check out The Growlers, easily one of my favorite bands. They've got a great SoCal surf/psych sound, singer's got an awesome voice. Fantastic live show as well. Real Estate's album Days is some good indie surf as well. Check Pond / Father John Misty if you like Tame Impala / Fleet Foxes. |
