The Sputnik Effect

Since joining the community here I've noticed that I've become far more critical of both music and people who review albums. Local bands hardly garner love from me anymore, and the campus music reviews are seen as somewhat laughable attempts at best. I often find myself remembering advice given by Irving, Deviant, bloc, Pizzamachine, DavieBoy, etc when reading other pieces and critiquing them. Does this happen to anyone else out there? List is albums I'm digging and ones that let me down.
1VNV Nation

Disappointed - I really doubt any album can come close to letting me down as much as this did in 2011, it's neigh on inexcusable.
2Imperative Reaction
Imperative Reaction

Mildly disappointed - Phelp's vocals still aggravate me here, "Surface" remains the albums highlight and saving grace.
The Sickness

Randomly put this on today, album still makes me feel like a highschool badass punk, which isn't too far removed from reality really :/
Fables of the Sleepless Empire

Mildly let down - I was pleasantly surprised by this album, but it's proving to lack staying power. While it deserves at least a 4 rating from most people I don't see me revisiting this too soon.
Im Abendrot

While nothing might really occur here this is very fitting for fall, also helps me with my German just a bit so that's always a plus.
The Hunter

Apathetic - while CTS took me at the right time and proceeded to rape my ears this just haphazardly fondled me and then passed me by for some dude with a neckbeard (cough, *Hans*, cough).

In Love - this keeps going on my lists, and for good reason. While their sophomore release will never receive any love from me I'll gladly take all the punishment this album wants to provide.
