Take Back The Universe And Give Me Yesterday

90's indie/alt rock that just missed the boat.

Dambuilders
Ruby Red

Quintessential 90's Indie rock out of Boston. A lot of the Boston alt rockers
site these guys as being one of their favorites. The lyrics are a little
sophomoric but it is a prime example of true 90's indie scene. If you prefer
your music a little rougher around the edges go for this or their earlier
album Encendedor. If you prefer a more polished production go for Against
the Stars. It actually saw a little air time on MTV.

Magnapop
Hot Boxing

90's pop-punk/riot girrrl Most people seem to like their self titled album
more but the rawness of the production and the harsh guitar production
makes this their best for me.

Foals
Total Life Forever

Alt rock from 2010, this has a number of really great tracks. Some prefer the
previous album Antidotes but I think TLF is damn near a perfect alt rock
album. Their music has a maturity I find lacking in some of their
contemporaries.

Silversun Pickups
Neck of the Woods

Chances are you know these guys however unless you are an alt rock fan
in general you probably didn't pick up their newest album. It is just a skosh
behind their earlier and subjectivly better albums.

The Smashing Pumpkins
Oceania

Again, almost as good as the earlier stuff but definitely worth a spin.

Foxygen
We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors...

Really digging this right now. Very classic rock meets modern alt. Singer
slips into Hold Steadyesq broken vocals from time to time.

The Horrible Crowes
Elsie

Lead singer of the Gasslight anthem's side project. Very good album that
seems like it slid under the radar for anyone not on this site.

Very Tom Petty, just read Bighans review.

Just a great rock album.

ZilbelPing 02.05.13	Hey omni. I like Beautiful Freak more than ESB but everyone seems to pike the latter so I went with that.
omnipanzer 02.05.13	BF is a great album but I think ESB really takes it to the next level particularly with the back story.

omnipanzer 02.05.13	Yah, the long and the short of it is his whole family is dead. His sister committed suicide shortly before he began the writing process for this album. Baby genius is about his dad who was really messed up. Going to a funeral is about going to his sisters funeral... stuff like that. definitely look up the rest of it... engrossingly morbid shit.
