| Hello 8th Grade Me
I got a letter in the mail today addressed from myself to me as a senior. I have been expecting this letter for a bit now, but as I read it I learned a bit about what I used to be like. List is music that I claimed was the best of my iPod. | 1 | | Pillar Where Do We Go From Here
Apparently, I was reading off from a list of suggestions as to what we should write to ourselves. The paper was blue since the school was too cheap to buy enough white paper to last the year. | 2 | | P.O.D. Satellite
I have not grown more than an inch vertically since 8th grade. I have gained 10 pounds though. | 3 | | Demon Hunter The Triptych
I used to think I was athletic. | 4 | | Tool 10,000 Days
I used to think that 11:00 PM was late. I haven't been in bed before 2:30 for about 8 months. | 5 | | Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny
I was impressed by my 1200 song library at the time. | 6 | | Disturbed Ten Thousand Fists
I thought I was so naughty for going to the bathroom during art class for a half hour just so I could listen to my iPod. Watch out for the tough guy. And apparently, I liked albums with 10000 in the title. | 7 | | Audio Adrenaline Hit Parade
I used to think listening to my iPod in school made me sooooo cool. | 8 | | Killswitch Engage As Daylight Dies
I assumed that, as a Senior, I would still be playing soccer and basketball. This turned out to be about 1/4 true. | 9 | | Emery The Weak's End
I still had this major crush on this girl I know. She and I don't really talk that much anymore even though we are still friends. That's mostly because she got boyfriends and alienated herself from what friends she did have. | 10 | | Relient K Two Lefts Dont Make a Right But Three Do
I was aware that the previous point that I made would probably make me feel really awkward today. Well. | 11 | | Seven Places Lonely For The Last Time
I liked all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Even the ones that sucked. And I didn't yet like the Lord of the Rings enough to include it in my letter. At least I still had The Godfather listed. | 12 | | Steven Curtis Chapman Signs of Life
I listed my friends, half of which I have not spoken to in a while, two I speak to on occasion (even though I am in a band with one of those two) and the last one is still a good friend. | 13 | | Weird Al Yankovic Straight Outta Lynwood
I listed my foes as: "Anybody who decides to tool on me." I guess people used to tool on me? | 14 | | 12 Stones 12 Stones
My hobbies included: guitar, soccer, basketball, and hanging out with friends.
Exclude the latter half of those four and add work, and it's pretty much the same as now. | 15 | | Switchfoot The Beautiful Letdown
Upcoming events at the time were: Canobie Lake Park, Six Flags, and then Camp. Two thirds of that is true today along with all that stupid Senior bull-ish that everyone just gets drunk for. | 16 | | Shadows Fall The War Within
My favorite memory at the time was going to Hawaii two years prior. Well it has now been six and I don't really remember much of it.
And the names of the albums I liked really did suck. | 17 | | All That Remains The Fall of Ideals
Barack Obama was running against McCain, and I was stupid enough to believe that he was a terrorist. Leave me alone, I was 14 and only watched Fox. | 18 | | As I Lay Dying An Ocean Between Us
My hero at the time was the guitar player for Pillar, Noah Henson.
Now: take out Pillar, enter mewithoutYou, and change Noah Henson to Aaron Weiss. | 19 | | Dio Holy Diver
I did listen to good music here and there. Just few and far between. | 20 | | Dragonforce Inhuman Rampage
I would have died to date my aforementioned crush. | 21 | | Foo Fighters Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace
My favorite TV shows were: Seinfeld, MadTV, Simpsons (?), George Lopez, Home Improvement, and The Office.
Now: Game of Thrones, Dexter. | 22 | | KJ-52 Collaborations
I used to do much better in school. SENIO12 SL1D3 | 23 | | Lynyrd Skynyrd 20th Century Masters
I wanted to be a rock-star because at the time, I thought that either I would play m/ or I would go hard rock so I could still m/ a little bit, but my crush wouldn't be put off by it. That and I didn't understand sub-genres. | |

05.02.12 | wow this is really similar to what my list would be lol | Dashy
05.02.12 | Luckily I knew older kids that got me into better music. Think in 8th grade I was listening to a majority Dream Theater and Opeth. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | 18. | Cipieron
05.02.12 | "I assumed that, as a Senior, I would still be playing soccer and basketball. This turned out to be about 1/4 true."

Yayyyyy New England | guitarnater
05.02.12 | Cipieron, hahaha yeah, this past year, I played soccer for the school, but I didn't show up for a single practice and I never played cause I suck. | dathvada321
05.02.12 | when i was in 8th grade i thought screamo was anything that had screaming in it and i thought as i lay dying was death metal lol | macadoolahicky
05.02.12 | Back then, anything with screams / growls made me laugh hysterically. First time I heard "Faint" by Linkin Park, I died. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | potsy, my class got to write letters to ourselves as seniors when we were in 8th grade. I just listed the stuff in the letter really.

05.02.12 | And I would have been delighted at the time to find people who listened to the same trash that I did. I thought I was so elite. | dathvada321
05.02.12 | Linkin Park was my favorite band in grade 5 and 6. I loved Hybrid Theory, then Meteora came out and it took me a long time to get into cuz i thought it was way too heavy
i think everyone liked hybrid theory in 8th grade. i still like that album lol | guitarnater
05.02.12 | I didn't really ever get that into Linkin Park. | Sirob
05.02.12 | oh yeah i thought i was so cool for listening to atreyu and avenged sevenfold and disturbed and bullet for my valentine | macadoolahicky
05.02.12 | I still spin some LP sometimes. Mainly Meteora, but really whenever I play them it's basically just anything other than Minutes to Midnight | dathvada321
05.02.12 | yeah. minutes to midnight sucks | guitarnater
05.02.12 | It's weird when I look back at all the things that I thought that I should've been listening to because that's what other people listened to, and how I never really liked it that much.
Turned out that it was because it sucked. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | I would love to sit down and have a conversation with myself at this age though. Teach myself music. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | And life. | macadoolahicky

05.02.12 | I would love to sit down and have a conversation with myself at this age though. Teach myself music.
lol same. i probably wouldnt have liked some of the stuff i do now at that age though | guitarnater
05.02.12 | I have encountered that problem. My brother is a freshman, and he and I have had pretty much the same musical taste...forever, but now he won't listen to anything I recommend anymore. He just doesn't understand. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | If I fought 8th grade me, I'd probably lose. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | I have not grown since then, and I'm pretty sure I was more muscular then than I am now. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | You had a jew fro too?
We're like brothers now. | guitarnater
05.02.12 | Shalom. |
