Heyo - don't have all that many movies queued up and even fewer that I'm super excited about. Anyways here's some of my favorites with descriptions when I feel like it paired with an album that reminds me of it. In pretty random order except the top 5 which are only kindof random
1Massive Attack
Mezzanine

The Matrix - wildly innovative visual effects often overshadow the
fascinating storyline
2Beck
Guero

The Rules of Attraction - Bret Easton Ellis adaptation that I enjoyed even
more than American Psycho. Cool visual effects, real character
development -- this one has a Lot going for it.
3Coil
Horse Rotorvator

American History X - It's funny how much Venice Beach has changed since
this was made. Of course Ed Norton was fantastic but the acting of the
young kid as well as Stacey Keach goes too unnoticed in this masterpiece.
4Tenacious D
Tenacious D

The Mouse that Roared - A hilarious film that's a must see for fans of Peter
Sellers. Even better than Dr. Strangelove imo
5Kashiwa Daisuke
Program Music I

Mulholland Drive - Film grabs you and doesn't let go. David Lynch at his best.
6Aphex Twin
Selected Ambient Works, Vol. II

Manic - Interesting flick about being young enraged and hospitalized for
insanity. Strikes a personal chord perhaps but Don Cheadle and Joseph
Gordon-Levitt make the thing realistic and powerful.
7Frank Sinatra
In The Wee Small Hours

Midnight Cowboy - Interesting portrayal of the not so glamorous aspects of
New York City that my older co-workers grew up with.
8Queen
A Day At The Races

The Great Escape - Another older movie that really holds up.
9Queen
A Night at the Opera

Kinsey - proof that Lucidity can rec more than just music.
10Gary Jules
Trading Snakeoil For Wolftickets

Donnie Darko - should be required viewing for high school students.
11Bob Marley and The Wailers
Legend

50/50 - a well made film that's both funny and heartfelt.
12The Lonely Island
Incredibad

Zoolander - lol.
13Tricky
Maxinquaye

Bully - another gripping and intense film by Larry Clark. Highly
recommended, especially for those that saw and enjoyed Kids.
14Beastie Boys
Paul's Boutique

Pump up the Volume - Gained me so much respect for Christian Slater. This
was a better and more original film than the more recent and commercially
viable Pirate Radio, filled with authentic teenage angst and rebellion
against authority.
15Elton John
Madman Across the Water

Almost Famous -
Penny Lane: I've made a decision, I'm gonna live in Morocco for one year. I
need a new crowd. Do you wanna come?
William Miller: Yes! Yeah.
Penny Lane: Are you sure?
William Miller: Ask me again.
Penny Lane: Do you wanna come?
William Miller: Yes! Yes.
16Jimi Hendrix
Are You Experienced

Casablanca - Suuuch a good film. I dodged it for a while cause it looks
dated but it so isn't
17Soundtrack
Kill Bill Vol. 1 Original Soundtrack

Kill Bill Vol. I - Wild and provocative
18Nas
Illmatic

Boyz in the hood - Larry Fishburne (Morpheus in the Matrix) mentoring his
son (played by Cuba Gooding Jr) in a heartfelt tale of struggles in
developing areas of Los Angeles. Much more serious, much more personal
and musch better made than I had expected.
19Elliott Smith
Either/Or

American Beauty - If you want to better understand what is beautiful,
watch this film again.
20Thievery Corporation
The Mirror Conspiracy

Ocean's 11 (2001) - Slick.
21Soundtrack
Lost Highway

Lost Highway - My 2nd favorite by David Lynch, who also happens to be
one of my favorite filmmakers.
22Ludwig van Beethoven
Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67

A Clockwork Orange - Never fails to give me a demonic grin all the way
through.
23Pink Floyd
The Dark Side of the Moon

Rebel Without a Cause - Holds up incredibly well due in no small part to
James Dean's convincing roll as an outcast with little regard for his own
safety and well being (which, considering he killed himself shortly
thereafter, probably wasn't all acting) ... "Don't ever call me chicken"
24Air
Moon Safari

Robin Hood: Men in Tights - Mel Brooks always puts a smile to my face.
25The Future Sound of London
Lifeforms

Serenity - Believe the hype. A must see for sci-fi fans.
26Soundtrack
Dazed and Confused

Dazed and Confused - a lot of fun. Excellent party film.
27Gorillaz
Demon Days

Kids - And you thought you were a bad kid growing up ...
28Animal Collective
Merriweather Post Pavilion

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World - A lot of fun to watch. Just a very very solid film.
29A Tribe Called Quest
The Low End Theory

Up - My favorite Pixar!
30Chet Baker
The Best of Chet Baker Sings

Some Like it Hot - Fucking hilarious. Also Marilyn Monroe omfg so hot.
31Zero 7
Simple Things

Boogie Nights - Erotic.
32The Smiths
Hatful of Hollow

500 days of Summer - I guess I like this film more than everyone else
seems to. Oh well, whatever, nevermind.
33Radiohead
Kid A

Mysterious Skin - Gregg Araki's powerfully dark film about how molestation
affects the development of those affected. Not for the fainthearted but
fascinating nonetheless.
34Arctic Monkeys
Favourite Worst Nightmare

Eurotrip - I watched this at least 6 times whilst spending a year in Germany.
35Red Hot Chili Peppers
Blood Sugar Sex Magik

Funky Monks - A must see for all Chili Peppers fans and one that
36DJ Shadow
Endtroducing.....

Scratch - Exploring the roles of DJs and turntablists in the hip-hop
movement of the '90s. The segment featuring DJ Shadow was particularly
cool for me.
37Leftfield
Leftism

The 40 year old Virgin - Upon my high school graduation, a female friend of
mine (who likely would have taken my v card) gave me this dvd and said I
should use it as a guide in college. Thanks?
38The Future Sound of London
Lifeforms

Being John Malkovitch - What if you could actually control a person?
39The Orb
Orbs Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld

Enter the Void - Tbh I'm not sure if I actually like this film. But I simply
cannot shake some of the imagery so it certainly fascinates me.
40Aphex Twin
Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Rounders - For poker fans everywhere
41Burial
Untrue

The Dark Knight - You've seen it ... You know what I'm talking about
42Soundtrack
Garden State

Garden State - @theacademy. Hi!
43Tangerine Dream
Phaedra

Waking Life - Philosophical and fascinating. Richard Linklater is a genius.
44The Doors
The Doors

Eyes Wide Shut - Fidelio
