Easily hip-hop album of the year. It's obvious I wasn't a big fan of the genre this year, but Doris is grimy, dark and Earl sounds like he couldn't care less what you may think about anything related to him. Oh, and he can rap. |

Protest the Hero, the rated-R version. David Davidson does something that many heavy bands don't. He writes songs. This is easily the most mature, creative and dare I say best album these virtuosos have released yet. |

Steven Wilson continues to amaze. 6 incredibly well written songs with phenomenal playing. The spirit of the 70's is fully alive here. |

This was a HUGE grower for me, but inevitably I realized the greatness of this album's dizzying prog-death. Luc Lemay should be given a Nobel Prize for coming up with this music and then proceeding to lay it to tape. |

This one is a no-brainer for me. Toby Driver outdid himself here and this is easily the best KD album since CotE. A tad on the bloated side, but the ambition is admirable, the execution is nearly flawless and the songwriting is downright unbelievable. This is simply a world to get lost in. Gold Metal for 2013, no questions asked. |
