Dream Theater Rated: Best Albums
Here's my favourite Dream Theater albums. Please comment. |
1 | | Dream Theater Images And Words
The album that started it all. Current vocalist James LaBrie's debut with the band, Images And Words introduced metal to prog fans, and prog fans to metal. Images and words was an instant classic, and lead single Images and Words was constantly getting played on MTV. Images And Words is truly a classic. |
2 | | Dream Theater Scenes From A Memory
This could easily have been number one. A concept album, SFAM is an epic masterpiece. Keboardist Jordan Rudess has a much larger role, which adds to the album. The guitar work is amazing, the lyrics are superb, and the album is a masterpiece. |
3 | | Dream Theater Train Of Thought
By far Dream Theater's heaviest album, Train of Thought has Heavy guitar riffs and thoughtful lyrics. Dark and heavy, TOT is one of DT'S greatest albums. |
4 | | Dream Theater A Change Of Seasons
This album is worth buying just for the 23 minuite epic song 'A Change Of Seasons'. Probably Dream Theater's best song they've ever written, and one of the best prog metal songs ever. The rest of the album are covers recorded live. |
5 | | Dream Theater Octavarium
Dream Theater show more emotion with Octavarium than theair previous album, Train of Thought, and even though it not as good, its still brilliant. |
6 | | Dream Theater Black Clouds And Silver Linings
Their latest studio album, Black Clouds... tones down on the guitar and keyboard solos getting out of control. If you want an album full of twists and hairpin turns, then Black.... is for you. |
7 | | Dream Theater Awake
Awake is one of Dream Theaters heavier releases. Their third release, its their heaviest before Train Of Thought. |
8 | | Dream Theater Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence
Dream Theater show their lighter side with SDOIT. Some of their best ballads, and it also has one of their best heavy songs, the glass prison, which is the first song in Mike Portnoys 12 Step Suite. |
9 | | Dream Theater Falling To Infinity
Falling To Infinity has groovy guitar solos and great keboards. However no progression lets the album down. |
10 | | Dream Theater Systematic Chaos
Systematic Chaos could be a lot better than it is. Unfortunaltey, it falls short of its goals. |
11 | | Dream Theater When Dream And Day Unite
Dream Theater's debut album with origional vocalist Charlie Dominici is a solid but steady one. It still shows promise. |
12 | | Dream Theater Greatest Hit(And 21 Other Pretty Cool Songs)
A pretty pointless collection of DT'S best hits. Don't buy. |
