Hans' Epic Concert Month

So, over the course of exactly 30 days, I will have had the true fortune of having seen all of these bands. Not festivals, but all separate events. Its been a hard month on the liver and the wallet, but all in the name of ROCK.
1Frightened Rabbit
The Midnight Organ Fight

Saw them in Minneapolis shortly after Prince's death. They did a rad cover of Purple Rain. Overall a stellar show. Highlight was closing with Loneliness and the Scream.
2Garth Brooks
No Fences

Saw him in Fargo, where he played 4 nights in a row, and could have easily sold out 8. Bottom line, I have never seen a performer put as much effort into a show as Garth. My seats were absolute shit, but it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Incredible performance, he really has to be seen live. Highlight was either the extended Friends in Low Places version, or the 2nd encore when he did an all acoustic cover mini set, including American Pie, and Piano Man, both of which the crowd went completely fucking apeshit over.
3Trivium
Ascendancy

They opened for Sevendust in Sioux Falls, and basically blew them off the stage. Heafy is pretty energetic live. Highlight was Pull on the Strings of Your Martyr.
4Sevendust
Home

Average performance. Didn't bother with an encore. I think most of the people at the show came to see Trivium.
5Baroness
Purple

This was in a small venue in Des Moines, and I was in the second row. A couple of observations: 1. These guys are ace musicians, and masters of using delay effects. 2. The crowd was bigtime into the show, and so was John. 3. The Purple Album sounds MUCH better live. Highly recommended. Highlight was either Chlorine and Wine or Isak.
6Deftones
White Pony

Saw them last night in Sioux Falls. Life is almost complete. In-fucking-credible. Highlight was Shove It, although they played great versions of Digital Bath and Rosemary. Must see.
7Black Stone Cherry
Black Stone Cherry

Seeing tonight, hopefully they play the early stuff, not the later, Nickelback ripoff shit,
8Buckcherry
Buckcherry

Headlining tonight in Sioux Falls. Expecting it to rock, and that is all that matters.
9Megadeth
Rust in Peace

Seeing tomorrow in Sioux Falls at a place that is a pawn shop and a concert hall. The outside says Guns, Gold, and Rock N Roll. Can't wait. RIP Nick.
