Underrated Rap

These can be popular rap albums that are shat on here, or ones I feel have been completely slept on in general or pretty much whatever I feel isnt getting half the praise it deserves etc.
1 50 Cent
Get Rich or Die Trying

This gets unfairly lambasted for the caricature of the "thug" identity that 50
managed to get across to everyone, and because 50 wasn't as good a rapper as
people were expecting. This doesn't really matter when you listen though, Just
check out "Back Down," "Patiently Waiting" or "Many Men" and tell me that this
album is lacking. 50's lyrics are serviceable and his delivery, in combination with
some great work from Dre (Back Down, Heat, In Da Club) works wonders.
Definitely a listen, albeit with a couple terrible tracks (I'm looking at you, 21
Questions)
2Lil Wayne
Tha Carter III

Obligatory qwe lil wayne post. But seriously, try finding fault with amazing use of
language in 3 Peat or A milli or Dr. Carter. "get on my level, you can't get on my
level/you gon' need a space shuttle or a ladder that's forever."
32 Chainz
B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time

SO MUCH better than the original BOATS, actually features good rapping from 2
chainz, and less phoned-in bangers. Where You Been hits HARD and Feds Watching
has some of the best production Chainz has ever had access to. Even if you
thought BOATS was bad, I would definitely check this out.
4UGK
Ridin' Dirty

Ok so this isn't underrated per se, but there are not as many ratings for it as there
should be, because it is a bona-fide dirty south classic with cuts like One Day and
In the Mornin' providing slow, buttery rhymes over beats drenched in molasses.
Rich and compelling rap music RIP Pimp C etc.
5Onyx
Bacdafucup

Hardcore rap outfit out of NYC, not very well known on this site, definitely should
be. Check this album out, and the next 2 as well.
6 Lloyd Banks
Hunger for More

Post-GRODT G-Unit rap release that was left in the shadow if GRODT itself. Banks is
a better lyricist than 50, though not many would know because, you know, who
listens to Lloyd banks? Very polished on all fronts, although production does not hit
the same heights as 50's debut. Choice tracks" On Fire, Warrior pt 2 (RIP nate
dogg), Southside Story.
7 Kanye West
808s and Heartbreak

The much-maligned problem child of Yeezy's discog, but had SO MUCH influence on
the urban music that came out afterwards. Kid Cudi, Drake, Weeknd, Frank Ocean
etc all came out after this album and you can clearly hear the sounds of this album
in lots of their music. There are some absolutely beautiful songs on here. Check out
Street Lights if you doubt me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vkioh25AoCU
8 Young Jeezy
Trap or Die 2

Fuck this goes so hard. Not thinking man's rap by any means but just dense, raspy
trap for like an hour and a half.
9Jeru the Damaja
Wrath of the Math

people will refer to Sun Rises as his best, but everyone forgets about his
sophomore effort. Still features Premo's stellar beats, still features great lyrics and
impressive flow. Listen to Black Cowboy or Revenge of the Prophet.

10T.I.
Trap Muzik

Really fun album. Not anything serious at all, just T.I using his considerable gifts of
flow and wordplay to elevate this album above the mediocre pop-rap it could have
been. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkpMva5hZs4
11Black Moon
Enta Da Stage

Such a classic, but slept on by the majority of the userbase here I feel. early 90s
NYC hip hop is so popular here that it's surprising that less than 100 people have
rated it. Definitely check this out if you're a fan of early Wu-Tang, Mobb Deep or
Nas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc2BDBft95E
12Kno
Death Is Silent

Hahahaha jk this album blows
13.L.W.H.
The Tape Hiss Hooligan

Superb washed-out, swooning production complete with great work from Main
Attrakionz among others. It's strange that Main Attrakionz are popular here but not
this album. Check out Bobblehead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=gk2n9hmVRzE
14Lil B
Angels Exodus

im a vampireFUCKTHAT 5/5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcl5FHNjdv0 really
