2012 In Shows

2012 has been the greatest year in shows that I have attended so far in my life.
1Neurosis
Honor Found in Decay

Last night. Simply mind blowing.
2Rwake
Rest

With Neurosis. Also amazing.
3Primate
Draw Back a Stump

With Neurosis. Grindcore for people too old to play fast.
4U.S. Christmas
Eat the Low Dogs

With Neurosis. Stoner jams.
5Mono
For My Parents

Beautiful. Chris Brokaw (drummer for Codeine) opened for them.
6Converge
All We Love We Leave Behind

They played The Saddest Day. Enough said.
7Torche
Harmonicraft

With Converge. Fun metal.
8Kvelertak
Kvelertak

With Converge. Fun hardcore.
9Punch
Push Pull

Crazy show in a basement.
10Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Yanqui U.X.O

I'm just glad I was able to experience this band live.
11Death Grips
No Love Deep Web

In a tiny bar. The crowd was absolutely nuts.
12Laura Stevenson and the Cans
Sit Resist

Saw them twice. Once at Georgia Tech and another at the same basement as Punch.
13Sunn O)))
Monoliths and Dimensions

The only band I've ever seen that left me speechless. Seriously, seeing Sunn O))) is an experience that listening to them at home will not prepare you for.
14Dead in the Dirt
Fear

With Sunn O))) and a few other shows. Local grindcore friends.
15White Collar Sideshow
White Collar Sideshow

It was at a local church. I went for the hell of it but it was okay for generic industrial rock.
16Irreversible
Ashes

Recently revived post-metal from Atlanta. One of the best shows of the year.
17Refused
The Shape of Punk to Come

The biggest show I went to (crowd wise). Amazing.
18Off!
Off!

With Refused. It was cool seeing Keith Morris.
19Barrow
Being Without

Saw them twice. Amazing each time.
20Kind of Like Spitting
Nothing Makes Sense Without It

Underrated indie-emo. Acoustic show in a living room with about fifteen people.
21mnwa
Discographie So Far

Fast drums, guitarist shredding riffs while wearing a cast on his leg, and a screaming vocalist slamming himself into everything.
22The Blue Letter
Love Is Not Control

Everyone that knows this band seems to love them. One of the loudest I've seen. "Isis meets Envy"
23Black Breath
Sentenced to Life

Ridiculously fun.
24Martyrdod
Paranoia

With Black Breath. Swedish crust. Riffs.
25Burning Love
Rotten Thing to Say

With Black Breath. Chris Colohan (Cursed) lying on the floor next to me screaming into the microphone.
26Enabler
All Hail the Void

With Black Breath. This was when their drummer was the guy from Fall Out Boy.
27Alcest
Les Voyages De L Ame

It was pretty cool but they only played off the new album. I got bored and left before they were done.
28Deafheaven
Roads to Judah

With Alcest. Absolutely phenomenal live. The vocalist being held up by the crowd while screaming.
29Narrows
Painted

Dave Verellen (Botch vocalist) hugged me. Enough said.
30All Pigs Must Die
God Is War

With Narrows. Ben Koller (also Converge) is one of the best drummers alive.
31Scott Kelly
The Wake

Solo acoustic show. Quiet and intimate, with subtle jokes. There were about ten or so people still there (at 2 am) when he finished.
