2010: The Year In Fail

Yeah, not a "worst albums of the year" list per se, but more like 12 albums that I found either disappointing or just flat-out bad. I'm sure some people will disagree about a few of my selections... but it's cool. I love all of you anyway.
1Drake
Thank Me Later

I mean, I guess if you are TRYING to kill hip hop...
2Sage Francis
Li(f)e

So much promise. Too bad that was like a decade ago; time to call it a career old man.
3Vampire Weekend
Contra

Why does this band annoy me so much?
4Dark Tranquillity
We Are The Void

Album title and cover art were god-awful, but for some reason I still expected the music to be decent... my mistake.
5Flobots
Survival Story

One of the few albums that I was able to rate accurately without listening to in its entirety. I don't know why I even tried.
6MGMT
Congratulations

Oracular Spectacular was only slightly above average as an album, but it had some killer cuts. This one doesn't really have any redeeming qualities to my ears.
7Cypress Hill
Rise Up

No idea why I thought this might be good.
8Sevendust
Cold Day Memory

Besides the inexplicable album title, this disc is filled with mindless nu-radio drivel. I guess the first song or two are ok.
9B.o.B.
The Adventures of Bobby Ray

See Drake.
10Eminem
Recovery

Can this guy do anything that sounds halfway genuine or without gimmicks? I don't hear all this newfound "sincerity" that this album's supposedly chock-full of. Just sounds like it sucks less than his last one, that's all.
11Kid Cudi
Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager

Yep, CuDi still sucks. Yeah yeah, this is him opening up and making an "introspective" statement; the problem is that he's like the 100th rapper to do that in the past 10 years and he's really not all that good at it. He can't decide whether he wants to impersonate Damian Marley's flow, rap about weed like Devin the Dude (except Devin the Dude's actually a clever lyricist) or be the hip hop everyman like Kanye West, but no matter what he does it's still a copy of something else and CuDi just can't provide enough polish to make it interesting.
12Bleeding Through
Bleeding Through

This one was actually pretty fun for one or two listens, but just like the new AILD record, gets old sooooo fast.
