owen 04.09.13	I always look at Converge as a punk band, because of their rule free sound and their diy mentality. Jacob said something along the lines of: "We started out as a punk rock band and that's where we still are now" I know they have a lot of metal influences, but they don't feel like a metal band

I just put Jane Doe there cos it's one of my favourite albums. What I really should have done is put Entombed and Esoteric instead and then we wouldn't be having this discussion
MosesMalone 04.09.13	True story: growing up I couldn't tell the difference between metal and hardcore. Now that I'm a bit older, I've realized that people only differentiate the two to have something to argue about.

MosesMalone 04.09.13	I mean of course they're different genres, but I never understood why there's a divide between them as far as fans go and whatnot. It's loud and heavy either way, so both genres and their innumerable subgenres should be more readily accepted by the two respective fanbases. I dunno, I remember having a myspace argument back in the day with somebody about how it's silly to love black metal and hate grindcore, my argument being that they pretty much exist in the same sonic extreme.

Feels 04.09.13	Owantjaaaa is right. Just like punk(which is where hardcore came from) hardcore is more about a feeling and an emotion more than anything. I always liked this Pg.99's quote - "Punk rock should mean freedom, playing whatever you want, as sloppy as you want as long as it's good and it has passion"
