Nocturnal 02.13.14	Ive been writing songs in F standard on my 7 string and I thought why the fuck not just get an 8 string baby.
MO 02.13.14	"I finally got into this band and don't know why not sooner" fuck yea bro, my thoughts exactly when they finally clicked many years back one of my band mates plays an 8 and 7 string. he likes to experiment with both but mainly rocks the 7 for our tunes. it really just brings heaviness to a whole new level

Diglett 02.13.14	dropped some cash on a RG8 and shit is straight fire extended range is pretty much the only reason, ive been playing a lot of AAL, Ever Forthright and very recently stuff from Deftones' Koi No Yokan

joshuahuntkc 02.13.14	I played a baritone 6 with an extended scale and I played it down in 8 string range for a while. Full 8's are to clunky on the fret board unless you want to shell out a few grand.

sapient 02.13.14	I did have one for awhile, but just didn't feel a use for the extra low, so I just use 7s now. I actually even tuned my 7 up to C# with some custom strings cause I love the tone and tension from it in that tuning

fr33convict 02.14.14	I got my first 7 (Ibanez RG927QMF) and actually find it extremely relaxing to play on and way more comfortable. I don't dig it for metal a ton but fully independent bass lines and extended chord voicings are the way to go while playing jazz, classical, etc.,

Tokoloshe 02.15.14	Heart of a Coward is easily the best out there playing the 8 strings now. Monuments are great too. There are three Aussie bands making some amazing music in Northlane, Circles and Stories. Plus there is a South African band Megalodon who are fantastic.

bloc 02.21.14	I just bought a second guitar a couple of weeks ago actually. It's a 2000 Ibanez RG570, which is considered to be one of their best models. I honestly suggest looking into Ibanez's older models before getting something new, assuming you don't mind buying used. They really don't make them like they used to.

ChuckyTruant 02.21.14	While Ibanez definitely had their limelight in the 90's, their Prestige line still kicks major ass. You are better off getting a newer Prestige than looking for a 90's RG550 or RG570, those are a lot of the time crap-shoots in terms of condition. Trust me, I have owned numerous Prestige's and numerous 90's MIJ Ibby's. I've played some sweet 90's Ibanez's, but I've also played some 90's MIJ Ibanez's that I wouldn't out over Indo stuff cause its already been beat to shit.

Pennywise_M 04.18.14	Some good shit in this list bro. About the 8 strings, im not even a guitar player but i do know that the Hellraiser is a bitching 7/8 string guitar for the price. I've seen my mate try some and Hellraiser is the fucking bang for the buck. Low ends like a fucking zombie dinosaur in a cave and goes as bright and "metallic" as you could hope for a bristle cutting sound. Fucking good guitar my friend
sapient 04.18.14	I stopped using 8 strings awhile ago, I love Meshuggah and the tone they get with it but the music I write nowadays really only requires a low B at the most. I use Ibanez Iron Label guitars and with a proper setup they kick ass
bloc 04.18.14	Schecter in general is really good for the price. They come well spec'd and despite not having a true neck through guitar, their "all access" heel can fool most people. I like the older Ibanezes and had some interest in their Iron Label series but I tried one and the fret edges are sharp as hell.
ChuckyTruant 04.18.14	I too have jumped off the 8 string wagon. I found myself either just using the first 6 or 7 strings without using the 8th at all, or I was going Meshuggah and only using the 8th. It was weird, creatively. I also never enjoyed the tons I got out of that guitar. But anyway, I'm back to sevens and sixes, I'm sure it will stay that way for awhile.
