| Overlooked 2011 Releases
With so much good music coming out this year some of it was bound to rbe missed. Here's some rover overlooked releases aka releases with 20 or rless votes from this year and why you should rcheck them out | 1 | | fLako The Mesektet
36 tracks of hip-hop brilliance. From mellow beats that are perfect for your pre-
sleep blunt, to all out bass bangers that would be bangin during hip-hop night at
the local club. The Mesektet is easily one of the best electronic records of the
year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuWD7ZtxXzU | 2 | | EmAy Mind Altering Dynamics
The debut EP from EmAy is one of my favorite hip-hop releases of the year. The
beats this kid makes are amazing and it's worth the listen just for that, but he
can rap too, and very well at that. Along with this EP he's got another EP from
this year and he's putting out his debut LP soon. I'm doing an interview with im
next week so im super amped on that. He's only going up, so get on this now
and here: http://emayzin.com/
*Just wrote a review for this so if you want a detailed description click on the
album link | 3 | | Jody Duff What The Duff
Jody Duff is a 16 year old rapper from Chicago who's got hella flow, you can get
his debut mixtape here: http://www.goodmusicallday.com/2011/11/jody-duff-
what-the-duff-mixtape/ | 4 | | Count Oak Cream Catalogue
Count Oak is a friend of mine named Colin who lives in Toronto. He makes chill
ambient electronica stuff that is some of the coolest music i've heard. "This
albums kind of like... a drugged out afterparty in a beach cave (like in Lost
Boys), recorded on a now decaying tape..." - Colin
http://countoak-ish.bandcamp.com/album/cream-catalogue you can listen here
but its worth the buy because you get the 20 minute ender as a bonus track
which is the best song imo | 5 | | Nacho Picasso For The Glory
Punchline heavy rap with a lot of clever pop culture references, only a few
votes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RThPd_gZjCw | 6 | | Balkansky The Temple
For anyone who likes dubstep, this one varies from really low-key atmospheric
chill tracks, to some huuuuuugggggggeeeeeee heavy tracks that are unreal. I
play tracks from this in my mixes all the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=JMzaydDf7fE | 7 | | Floating Points Shadows
This is all I have been listening to lately, such a groovy record. I needz moar
chill house music like this and so do y'all!!! | 8 | | King Krule King Krule
I love this kids voice, and i know it's a turn off for a lot of people, but i cant get
enough of it. He crafts the perfect catchy lo-fi guitar lines and matches them
with a beat that drives it along smoothly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=Xi1_GYahCSs | 9 | | Nicolas Jaar Space Is Only Noise
Chill, intricate electronica. Perfect for going on a late-night walk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVKc8KGPKFM | 10 | | Shlohmo Bad Vibes
Another album filled with unreal beats, Bad Vibes is a record of the most lo-fi,
organic sounding hip-hop beats i've ever heard
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcNUVP_8ejw | 11 | | Efrim Manuel Menuck Plays "High Gospel"
If Efrim has something to do with it you know it's going to be weird, and calling
myself a huge Godspeed fanboy would be a huge understatement, so naturally i
got this album and it's great. Kind of like a toned down version of what he did
with A Silver Mt Zion along with some nice ambient pieces
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfQSDeowq4U | 12 | | Joan Of Arc Life Like
HOW ARE THERE SO FEW VOTES FOR THIS!!!!!!!!! Victor Villareal returns and
the bands creates the closest thing to that second Owls album we've all
dreamed of for so long http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBHVNInyD0g | 13 | | Teebs Collections 01
One of the best and brightest from the Brainfeeder camp, Teebs makes some of
dem woozy beats. Teebs stated that Collections 01 is a compilation of idea's, not
an EP, LP, or anything of the sort... well this is pretty fucking good for a
collection of "ideas" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5op3PCB8i0 | |
