01.05.10 | Mmm I like a few of these guys and maybe a couple would make it on my list. When I think of great vocalists though, metalcore/deathcore isn't really what comes to mind. 2 and 6 are certainly talented vocalists (6 more so on the older stuff, Howard's still going strong even if they've turned into a pop band).
Not a fan of Byron Davis from God Forbid, although 1 and 10 are pretty good. I'd say the list is seriously missing:
Jeff Moreira (Poison the Well)
Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan)
Jake Luhrs (August Burns Red) |
Phrike
01.05.10 | 6 and 8 would be on my list as well
Imho Tim Lambesis from AILD is the best metalcore vocalist out there. Let the hate begin |
Inveigh
01.05.10 | y'know teddy I almost threw him in there on my list but was a.) too afraid of the hate that would follow and b.) hesitant to throw him in there because he can't do any clean vocals and only has one scream (even though it's f*ckin' brutal) -- at least Jake Luhrs has a couple different ranges to his. |

01.05.10 | tim lambesis is great for what he is: a one-note vocalist, except that one note will blow your eardrums out. i definitely second blake's mention of jeff and greg, though |
jrowa001
01.05.10 | Howard Jones is fucking boring! his scream is dry and his cleans get annoying. doesnt help the music behind him is lacking |

01.05.10 | word 'pit. |

01.05.10 | people forget about blood has been shed, howard jones' first band. he was a fuckin monster with that group. killswitch killed howard's voice, while howard killed kse's sound. kinda went both ways |
Inveigh
01.05.10 | I wouldn't say Howard killed KsE's sound necessarily, it just so happened that his arrival coincided with Adam D taking over majority songwriting duties from Joel -- they talked about it in a Revolver interview way back when The End of Heartache came out (yeah, I was a fanboy back then -- ironically, I got arrested the day that record came out, hah).
Adam's got a much more poppy style and is also a businessman, which means he writes songs with radio singles and soundtrack spots in mind. I think KsE's newer material is fine as long as you're not expecting groundbreaking metalcore like AOJB or their first self-titled; it's just that they're a pop-metal band now -- kind of like newer Metallica. Just appreciate it for what it is not what it used to be, y'know? I can't think of any metal band out there writing better pop songs than KsE.
Also, while Howard's screams have deteriorated over the years, his cleans have gotten better with each album imo. |

01.05.10 | ya i never thought about adam d. i guess i just associate "the beginning of the end" for kse when the end of heartache came out. i loved the album, but i saw the change and it was almost painful at times, because Alive or Just Breathing was one of the albums that got me into metal. i still listen to it on a daily basis |
Inveigh
01.05.10 | Alive Or Just Breathing is a top 3 all-time metalcore record in my opinion (and probably in my top 10 or so metal of all time). To be honest, The End of Heartache is probably my least favorite from KsE (because of the associated pain from hearing the change in sound probably, although there are still some absolute classics on it there's also quite a few tracks that I don't care for as much). |

01.05.10 | word to Inveigh, I nearly included Jake on this list especially in the light of his quality live performance but I only decided on doing 10. Haven't heard enough of Dillinger to put him on and I am not a huge fan of Jeff Moreira but fair play, each to their own. Glad this list appeals to someone. |

01.05.10 | 6 7 8 10 are the bosses |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
01.05.10 | Ugh, terrible list. Wrong Killswitch singer, wrong Mis Sigs singer. General wrong bands. Where is Geert Van de Velde? Where is Dave Verellen? Greg Puciato? Hell even though it's cliche as fuck Bannon should be above all of these guys. Also needed Guy Kozowyk. Seriously listen to more metalcore because these guys will never be the best. |
TheSpirit
01.05.10 | Yeah, so its funny how opinions work. |
Powerban

01.05.10 | Anyone hating on Tim Lambesis' range should check out Austrian Death Machine.
Leach > Jones imo
I'd also add Adam Cody from Glass Casket. |
Eulogize
05.12.11 | Sorry for resurrecting this but I couldn't help myself. These are some that I think should be recognized.
Jonny Davy from Job for a Cowboy.
Phil Bozeman from Whitechapel.
Mitch Lucker from Suicide Silence (even if he is in one of deathcore's most hated bands, I love these guys.)
Winston McCall from Parkway Drive.
Lance from Hester Prynne.
Brendan Van Ryn from Thy Art is Murder.
And definitely agree with 1, 2 and 4. |
Chrisjon89
05.12.11 | I know the guitarist from Thy Art is Murder, since I was a youngun.
I love Jeff Moreira too, like Inveigh said. Impressive versatile vocalist who came a long way and improved alot, and developed a great singing voice. That said, I know fuck all about metalcore/deathcore. |
bowlofsoup
05.12.11 | In my opinion, 10 should be higher on this list. I agree with 1 completely |
Remer17
05.12.11 | Dan Fucking Weyandt. People have been ripping that guy off for years. |
Emim
05.12.11 | I'll second Winston McCall |
sspedding
05.12.11 | yeah he is pretty strong even if his band are on the wane. |
Emim
05.12.11 | How do you like Adam Cody from Glass Casket, ssp? |
VeilOfOsiris

05.12.11 | I haven't really listened to Glass Casket before, I'll get on them right away. Where is a good place to start? |

05.12.11 | #1 is correct |
Trebor.
05.12.11 | I really like 10 and Tim Lambesis. |
Remer17
05.12.11 | Tim Lambesis sucks and he phrases everything the same way.
"Rahh Rahh, RAHHHHHHH!" |
jmh886
05.12.11 | jeff moreira is so underrated. i like karl from misery signals as well. You can understand most of their lyrics pretty clearly. I also enjoy jimmy ryan, even though i have no idea what he says. randy from log fits his bands style better than any vocalist i think. |
BurnedBlack606
09.05.11 | omg why is jacob bannon not on hereoomgomgomog
jk, he sucks.

09.05.11 | lolbad list |

09.05.11 | #1 is still correct |
Emim
09.05.11 | At least of TPoE. I do still prefer Adam Cody overall though. |
