| Mappy's Top 5 Gigs Of The Year
HOW WE DO | 1 | Oktober Skyline
Harrison Bergeron, Get To The Chopper, etc. etc., re show of some of the best bands to come from the 610 area. Shit was fucking wild, in the ballroom of an old ass hotel. So many cut off jeans. So many circle pits. So many kids skating in the pit. Good times are good. | 2 | Junius
Irepress, Rosetta, etc. In some venues basement in New York, a few weeks ago actually. This shit was so atmospheric and baller ass. Every single band was top notch elitery, one of the best shows I've been to period. | 3 | Heather Grey
Some noise bands idk. It was in my friends basement, and a bunch of great local bands, much alcohol, I pooped myself that night. | 4 | Underoath
w/ August Burns Red and Emery. Yeah, a metalcore show, WHATEV. So glad to see Spencer can hold his voice again. Best Underoath show I've been to since before They're Only Chasing Safety came out. August Burns Red was solid as hell, as always. Emery is decent live, just kind of bland like on recording. | 5 | Every Time I Die
w/ Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, and Oh Sleeper. Every band was on the top of their game except BMTH. Architects blew everything else out of the water though. Sam Carter is freaking insane to watch live, dude has so much energy. | |

So... who are the top 3 bands? | Thor
12.31.09 | I went to 4 as well, ABR and Underoath were both pretty boss and got incredible responses from the crowd | ov420

12.31.09 | @DaveyBoy, Oktober Skyline is a local grind band that broke up years ago, and they did an epic reunion show (even though they were headlining Harrison Bergeron, a local screamo band that also broke up in '06, was the best part of the show).

Junius is an atmospheric metal band from Boston, but they mostly play in Europe I guess? They were great, but Rosetta was by far the best part of that show (sludge/post hardcore/screamo band from Philly).

Heather Grey's a local mathrock band, their guitarist is a good friend of mine and we have a death metal band together.

12.31.09 | I saw Underoath and August Burns Red at 2 separate gigs this summer. I would have loved to see them paired together with Emery! I'm probably going to see Every Time I Die @ Warped Tour this summer. | po0ty
12.31.09 | I saw 5 in Boston. Definitely a great show except for Oh Sleeper. BMTH are scene as fuck but it was still fun. | KILL

12.31.09 | Oh, Sleeper is awesome, who gives a fuck if they're scene.
They're really nice too.
Oh and BMTH played stuff off CYB well, Suicide Season material is 100% stolen riffs from Underoath and Bury Your Dead, and when Oli tried doing hardcore vocals it was embarassing.
But first time I saw them that his DM vocals actually sounded BETTER than on album, instead of worse. |
