2008 Top 10 albums
Alright, now I know that I shouldn't post more than one list per day, so here's my shitty list for today. I've been doing one for every year, starting with 2015 and going back. I wonder how far I'll go. aaanyway, here's 2008. Not a lot that left a big impression on me. I was really busy in 2008, didn't have time to search for new stuff so that probably explains the weak list. Honorable mention to "Microcastle" by Deerhunter, which I found out about recently and should grow on me enough to be in my top 10 at some point. |
10 | | Metallica Death Magnetic
Metallica's redemption. Fuck that mastering job though. |
9 | | Cynic Traced in Air
If I were more of a metalhead, this would certainly be way higher on my list. |
8 | | Mother Mother O My Heart
Underappreciated Canadian band that make smart, quirky pop songs with great vocal work. |
7 | | Coldplay Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
This album and their debut are the only ones on which Coldplay sound special. A lot of credit has to be given to Brian Eno for his production. Violet Hill is my favorite Coldplay song. |
6 | | Death Cab for Cutie Narrow Stairs
Solid album with a few excellent tracks. I wish they'd included the demo version of Talking Bird that appears on The Open Door EP. |
5 | | Sigur Ros Med sud i eyrum vid spilum endalaust
Sigur Rós decide to dabble into pop territory and the result is pretty interesting. Actually, the poppiest songs are the most memorable. |
4 | | Flying Lotus Los Angeles
The only Flying Lotus album I love. |
3 | | Anonymus Musique Barbare
Should be listed under Mononc' Serge et Anonymus.
Mononc' Serge is on top of his lyrical game on this album and Anonymus sound like they're having a blast making the dumbest sounding metal to go with the ludicrous lyrics. |
2 | | The Mars Volta The Bedlam in Goliath
The last great album The Mars Volta made. Thomas Pridgen is an absolute beast.
Frances the Mute -- De-Loused in the Comatorium > The Bedlam in Goliath > Octahedron > Amputechture > Noctourniquet |
1 | | Fleet Foxes Fleet Foxes
Such a beautiful little album. |
