02.18.10 | Fuck yo couch! |
Electric City
02.18.10 | game had the shittiest ending i was so pissed. probably played it wrong for what it was but i wanted something better than a two minute montage of pictures to reward the experience |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | Get Broken Steel, it extends the ending. |
MassiveAttack
02.18.10 | the DLC give a better ending. |
Emim
02.18.10 | Yeah, it was meant for DLC. |
bloc
02.18.10 | Holy crap, for a minute I thought this was about favourite things to do in real life...I had quite a scare. |
Satellite
02.18.10 | Great game, but buggy as shit. ME2 is all I need right now. |
Emim
02.18.10 | @bloc: Whatever floats your boat there, buddy... |
klap
02.18.10 | yeah the ending blew dick without broken steel. i'd still take a new elder scrolls over fallout any day, though this was admittedly fun and had more replay value than i originally thought |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | Best thing to do in Fallout is get the MIRV and fuck up an entire city. |
Emim
02.18.10 | ^Yes. |
JWT155
02.18.10 | Oblivion>Fallout 3 |
MassiveAttack
02.18.10 | har har more like Morrowind > Oblivion > Fallout 3 |
klap
02.18.10 | morrowind is like my favorite rpg of all time |
joshuatree
02.18.10 | fallout 3 with broken steel is better than any elder scrolls game |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | Morrowind > Fallout > Oblivion |
Tulannical
02.18.10 | why the hate for elder scrolls? |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | ^ Different developer dudder. |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | Hell yeah they do. |
joshuatree
02.18.10 | dragon age rules but isn't nothing like these games |
Emim
02.18.10 | Oblivion is a *little* better than Fallout 3. And morrowind was too tedious. I still need to get the DLC for Fallout, and then I need to play some Bioware rpgs. |
joshuatree
02.18.10 | fallout 3 w/o dlc is so gay you need to get on that |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | Morrowind was just so groundbreaking, not putting first would be unfair to my personal history with the game. |
klap
02.18.10 | morrowind is a fucking massive game i love it |
Willie
02.18.10 | This list made me laugh because I did every one of those things. |
Emim
02.18.10 | I played Oblivion before Morrowind, so I noticed the things that Ob did better when I played it. Morrowind's magic system was a lot better though.
@Willie: It's impossible not to. Pretending to be a "cop" is great fun. |
klap
02.18.10 | i just thought they really neutered the quests in oblivion, there was a lot less shit to do in oblivion and the fighters and mage's guild quests were weak. the best thing about oblivion over morrowind is the fast travel system - i used to fucking hate traveling everywhere in morrowind because it took so fucking long |
Emim
02.18.10 | Yeah, see things like fast travel weren't an upgrade, they were the norm. So it REALLY stood out when I first played Morrowind. |
JWT155
02.18.10 | Played Oblivion first, never could get into Morrowind. |
Willie
02.18.10 | I liked Oblivion, but I think Fallout was more fun. Playing cop took about as much time as the actual game, I think. That's one thing I don't like about Mass Effect - I can't kill everybody. |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | I can see how Morrowind would look like the weaker game when you play it after Oblivion. I guess it's one of those 'you had to be there' kind of games. There really wasn't anything like Morrowind before it came out. Even after playing Oblivion I prefer Morrowind, there is more stuff to do and the story had more depth. |
cvlts
02.18.10 | heres where Dante comes in and says Mass Effect 2 rapes Fallout 3.
fin. |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | Hahaha no way. Fallout >>>> Mass Effect >> Mass Effect 2. |
Willie
02.18.10 | I haven't played Mass Effect 2 yet. I'm replaying the first one right now. I think that Fallout Vegas will be cool, though. |
Emim
02.18.10 | @Willie: That's something that bugged me about Oblivion. Damnit, I want to be able to kill everyone if I so please!
@Prophet: I can see that, Morrowind was more realized in a lot of ways. |
cvlts
02.18.10 | Prophet, you worry me... |
Willie
02.18.10 | I think Mass Effect 2 will be cool. I'll probably get it next week. I'm really looking forward to more Dragon Age DLC though. That game is awesome. |
cvlts
02.18.10 | Jus finished DAOs first novel, helps explain a lot. stoked for the expansion. |
klap
02.18.10 | prophet hit it on the head, i played morrowind first and it just really had a more profound effect on me than either oblivion or fallout |
Satellite
02.18.10 | I'm honestly not sure how anyone can say Fallout 3 is even CLOSE to being as good as Mass Effect 2. |
cvlts
02.18.10 | srsly |
Willie
02.18.10 | I love the story on Dragon Age. What is the name of the novel? |
Satellite
02.18.10 | "That's one thing I don't like about Mass Effect - I can't kill everybody."
They're not the same kind of game at all, but I get what you're saying. The ability to do whatever the fuck you want without worrying about the consequences is really what keeps Fallout 3 from being just another average RPG. |
bungy
02.18.10 | Open world RPG's are the only one's I ever played, the hours Morrowind and Oblivion have taken I will never get back (like 400) |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | I just prefer open world western RPG's to glorified shooters with dialogue options. Mass Effect 2 was such a step backwards for the series. They took out pretty much all the RPG elements like inventory management, trading, team control (even more watered down) and exploration. Now it's just a shooter with a quest log and classic Bioware dialogue. Just too streamlined of a game for me. I think Mass Effect 3 will be the best in the series for sure. Dragon Age kills ME2 in every way possible in my eyes as far as 09 Bioware games. |
Satellite
02.18.10 | IMO they just trimmed the fat and shifted the focus to gameplay (the cover system fucking rules). Did you honestly enjoy stopping the action every 10 minutes because you had to convert half of your inventory into omni-gel?
That said, I still need to get Dragon Age. |
Satellite
02.18.10 | And I have to admit that I've never been huge on RPGs, so we probably have differing expectations. |
klap
02.18.10 | open world RPGs are where its at, after morrowind i just couldn't get into any linear ones except for KOTOR (and the 2nd one wasn't even that good). i tried playing dragon age but it just bored the shit out of me |
Prophet178
02.18.10 | Yeah the gameplay was vastly improved, but those RPG elements I love were nowhere to be found. When I ended up using the same piece of armor and switched guns twice the entire game I was kinda disappointed. |
Willie
02.18.10 | I like both kinds. I'm still a sucker for the old-school RPGs (like the new Final Fantasy that's coming out later this year).
I'm kind of glad that ME2 took out the inventory management, because the system in the first game was one of the most annoying aspects of it. As for my team, I only ever sent them in to be human bullet sponges anyway, so loss of control isn't that big of a deal to me either.
There's just something about Dragon Age that makes me love it. I'm in the middle of my fourth play-thru right now. I only stopped to replay ME1 to refresh my memory before buying ME2. |
cvlts
02.18.10 | Willie: novels called Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne. hecka good. second novel called The Calling, equally good.
Prophet: The entire Mass Effect series is a RPG shooter. The shooter aspect on ME1 jus wasn't as good.
|
Willie
02.18.10 | Thanks for the info. Downloading it to my iPhone now. |
Emim
02.18.10 | In a nutshell, all the RPGs mentioned have their own place and their own niche. I plan to play (and enjoy) all of them. |
Emim
02.20.10 | Ha ha, just realized that no one commented on the music. |
FadeToBlack
02.20.10 | so i started a new game for like the 16th time last week, love the game so much. and while I always end up being evil I never act like a cunt to anyone, it makes me feel bad lol |
Emim
02.20.10 | It's fun, but I don't do it very often. I mostly just steal things, a LOT of things. |
FadeToBlack
02.20.10 | same I don't see why I bother really cause atm i'm only level 12, have all the weapons and clothing I'll be using, shitloads of ammo and have over 8000 caps and nothing to do with them lol |
Emim
02.20.10 | Yeah, I have all the best weapons, and like 170 stimpaks that I've grabbed and 70 missiles. |
theilladelph
02.21.10 | apparently you guys havent heard of call of duty.... RPG's suck balls |
Phantom
02.21.10 | Yeah this game rules did 3/4 of the stuff mentioned in the list too. Still need to get the last couple of DLCs for it. Looking forward to New Vegas as well. |
Willie
02.21.10 | Call of Duty was a good game for about six hours. The muliplayer is fun in small doses. There are better FPS out there, like Bad Company. |
LepreCon
02.21.10 | I got the GOTY Edition because I was patient enough (i.e. broke) to wait for it, came with ALL the DLC preloaded into the game and it absolutely rocked so better late than never to get on board this awesome game. I played through it three times to get the platinum trophy |
Phantom
02.21.10 | OMG GUYS YOU'RE ONLY ALLOWED TO PLAY ONE GAME GENRE AND MUST MAKE FUN OF ALL OTHERS. derp.
I play COD too, it's great but does get old fast. Especially when idiots start glitching with the multiplayer.
|
FadeToBlack
02.21.10 | lol at thinking call of duty is the best thing ever |
Emim
02.21.10 | @dischord:
Because they're both of the same genre, have MANY of the same characteristics, and are both from Bethesda Works.
@theilladelph:
Die in a fire. Goldeneye rules all FPS.
@Phantom:
New Vegas is looking great already, should be another great game. The problem with COD online, is that the people on there ONLY play Call of Duty. They are also convinced that COD = second coming of the Messiah.
|
theilladelph
02.22.10 | wasnt exactly gonna take it that far but it is a pretty damn good game that doesnt get old if ur any good at it |
