| My Top10 Psychedelic Albums
I'm bored so here's a list of my favourite psych albums | 1 | | Comus First Utterance
Completely bizarre yet great mix of psychedelia, folk & prog complete with hand-drums that sounds like it should be played at a human sacrifice in a dark forest. | 2 | | The White Noise An Electric Storm
Really experimental early electronica with early Pink Floyd influences, which suddenly changes half-way through to attempt to sound 'dark and evil'. And it succeeds. | 3 | | Love Forever Changes
Just a fantastic rock album that doesn't get the attention it deserves. Great melodies, great lyrics, great singing. 'The Red Telephone' is one of my favourite songs ever. | 4 | | The United States of America The United States of America
Crap name, great music. Similar to White Noise but more rock, less electronic. | 5 | | The Zombies Odessey and Oracle
Didn't like it much at first listen, but it really grew on me. A lot. One of the best psych pop albums ever. | 6 | | The Misunderstood Before the Dream Faded
One of John Peel's favourite bands. Plus their steel guitar kicks ass. | 7 | | Spirit The 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus
Apparently Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' ripps off Spirit's 'Taurus'. Either way this album owns. | 8 | | Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow
Grace Slick is simply one of the best singers ever. Not much else to say here. | 9 | | Pink Floyd The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
'I want to tell you a story
about a little man if I can.
A gnome named Grimble Gromble.
And little gnomes stay in their homes,
eating, sleeping, drinking their wine.
He wore a scarlet tunic,
a blue-green hood, it looked quite good.
He had a big adventure
amidst the grass, fresh air at last.
Wining, dining, biding his time...
And then one day...
Hooray!' Isn't that reason enough? | 10 | | The Bonzo Dog Band The Doughnut in Granny's Greenhouse
After attacking jazz in their first album, the Bonzos changed their target to the psychedelia popular at the time. But while parodying it, they still managed to be better than most 'serious' bands. | |

05.15.08 | You've got me man. And I thought I was the only one here who knows The United States of America. I had my review about the album deleted just about a week ago, cause I thought it wasn't that cool after all. Now I'm going to put up a new one soon.
I've ordered 3 also about a week ago, it should soon come. 5, 8 & 9 belong to my favourites as well from 10 I only know a few songs (I think they're called The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, btw). because I love those parts of your list so much I'm going to get all the rest ;)
The only thing I can think of suggesting to you right now (apart from the beatles and the doors, which I'm almost sure you have) is Rain Parade, a neo-psychedelia band from the 80s and Joe Byrd and the Field Hippies, the follow-up to The United States of America | Jim
05.15.08 | not much of a psychedelic fan, but PATGOD is awesome stuff | username345
05.15.08 | Thanks Mendigo. If you like USA you'l probably like White Noise a lot too. I have Joe Byrd & the Field Hippies (though I only ever really listen to 'You Can't Ever Come Down'), but I've never heard of Rain Parade, thanks for the recommendation.
The Bonzo Dog (Doo-Dah) Band used different names for different albums, so as neither are listed here I used the one they used on 'The Doughnut...' | Mendigo
05.15.08 | ok, I didn't know that.
and I'm going to get all of the albums here anyway...
you could check out my two Rain Parade reviews, they are an awsome band imo.
sputnikmusic needs a lot more psychedelia anyway. | username345
05.15.08 | I'm listening to Emergency Third Rail Power Trip now, it's great so far, thanks a lot! | dub sean
05.15.08 | Noice Noice, Jefferson Airplane is my favorite, Pink Floyd is amazing as well. The Zombies are obvious, but I agree The Doors are much needed here. |
