They should vs genres."
There aren't really substantial differences between genres, just that faster beats and loud volumes increase arousal (physical alertness ect.) and more mellow music (especially instrumental) can increase concentration. But experimental studies using music as pain killer link the subjective enjoyability directly to the effectivity as pain killer. There is actually a comprehensive study that examines shitloads of other studies and experiments on their effects of music on the human body/brain.
