06.02.10 | I like reading Pitchfork on occasion. I disagree with so much of what they say but the reviews are well written and often funny.

06.02.10 | I somewhat agree with the Thrice review actually, but the other two are fucking horrible. The "Relationship of Command" one is so poorly written. |
Skimaskcheck
06.02.10 | Haha, these are some of my favourite albums and you're right, they're reviewed pretty badly..
What an futile concept review for Relationship.. and those Thrice comparisons are ridiculous |
illmitch
06.02.10 | crazy people think negative reviews of their favorite albums are reviewed badly
pitchfork has some of the best hip hop reviewers in the nation afaic |
Romulus
06.02.10 | Pitchfork gets way too much hate here but honestly the Relationship of Command one is pretty poor. |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
06.02.10 | my problem isn't how they right, it's how strangely they've reviewed. Like Thrice being called Emo it's so strange, similarly the fact that they have tons of reviews that have more to say about the people who listen to the album than the album itself. |
Maniac!
06.02.10 | yeah im tired of seeing people rant on pitchfork around here. I dont necessarily like them, but they arent godawful, like some people say. |
Maniac!
06.02.10 | "how they right" ?
time for the grammar nazis to attack |

06.02.10 | HERETICS!!!! >=(
No, seriously. |
FadeToBlack
06.02.10 | yes but reviews are only badly written if they trash you're favourite album sheesh guyz
personally I could care less about pitchfork reviews, although some of them, like the Tool review, are really fuckin funny to read |
scissorlocked
06.02.10 | It's A HUGE TRUTH that sputnick reviewers often review badly the non-indie albums. But it's is also true that there are some great reviewers too.
and hey.has anybody seen the lateralus review??Is this a joke??
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/8104-lateralus/
Personally I kinda hate pitchfork, although I visit it quite often. |
FadeToBlack
06.02.10 | no that review parodies the average brain-damaged toll fanboy perfectly |
FadeToBlack
06.02.10 | *tool
"Danny Carey is the best drummer in rock, dispute that and I know you are a dunce. I made a list of all of his gear (from the June issue of Modern Drummer): *huge list*"

06.02.10 | RoC one is horrible. And Invalid Letter Dept. is the best song on the album, wtf. |
KieranV
06.02.10 | if an album gets a 6 on pitchfork, its pretty good. |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
06.02.10 | If Thrice gets called emo on any review ever the person writing it is a retard. My issue isn't ratings it's how stupid the reviewers are when they're not viewing indie. |
Inveigh
06.02.10 | i think pitchfork does a pretty good job with indie and hip hop, as good or better than any other major publication imo but those reviews are pretty hilarious |
scissorlocked
06.02.10 | I just can't stand pitchforks' pretention. This kinda "postmodern" approach seems to me so fake.
They laugh at tools' pretentious efforts but they celebrate records like this:
http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/6113-ov/
I mean,ok,seriously, check this band, and start thnking:Are they geniouses or am I an idiot??
It seems like the perfect record for MJ to review |
FadeToBlack
06.02.10 | im pretty sure that band doesn't have the most retarded fanboys in the world, unlike Tool. so they deserve less ridicule :P |
scissorlocked
06.02.10 | haha!!I think you're right!!!but I also wonder if this band has any fanboys at all... |
BigHans
06.02.10 | Their ratings for Relationship of Command and Comatorium are spot on. |
AggravatedYeti
06.02.10 | lol, scared of hipsters. |
NeutralThunder12
06.02.10 | Pitchfork has no idea what they are talking about, but 1 and 2 are pretty meh albums any way |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
06.02.10 | but blood mountain is good amirite? |
FadeToBlack
06.02.10 | BOOOOOOOOM |
LegendofPittman
06.02.10 | Those 3 albums are 3 of my favorite of all time. So is Frances and Lateralus. I may not agree with their opinion, but they are very good writers. Especially their indie reviews, but it seems like they are biased. If it's not indie or rap they don't really give it a real chance. |
O.J. Simpson
06.02.10 | wah they reviewed my music badly. pitchfork is pretty good. |
ThePalaceOfWisdom
06.02.10 | I honestly must laugh at the number of people here who can't read, it's not the ratings it's what they're actually saying that I'm saying is odd. |
ninjuice
06.02.10 | "Their ratings for Relationship of Command and Comatorium are spot on."
If you're a classic rock fart, yeah. |
mmfarva
06.02.10 | I don't mind some of their harcore reviews. I liked the DEP, Trash Talk, and Daughters reviews. |
Ire
06.02.10 | Their reviews are horrible. |
scissorlocked
06.02.10 | ΜJ, I totally agree that pitchfork writers are really good.
My point is that a good reviewer can make you believe that a silly album is gold. And that is something that happens with them,i personally believe.maybe not exactly, but they have their way to super-size the bands they want to anyway... |
buckfutter
06.02.10 | Hey Palace! You'd fit right in with them, hh? |

06.02.10 | the pitchfork haters congregation!!haha!! |

06.02.10 | Ugh, Relationship one was so bad.
Their review of the Blood Brothers - Burn Piano Island, Burn was fucking awesome though, and that's def non-indie rock. |
Ire
06.02.10 | ok fair enough. Pitchfork are hit and miss for me. Miss on most occasions however. |
scissorlocked
06.02.10 | MJ is right
And the Isis reviews are great, and so the Mastodon ones |
sniper
06.02.10 | 123 MJ, they have far better writing style than almost any reviewer here tbh, and their reviews do an excellent job of assessing the importance of an album to it's own scene.
See:

couldwinarabbit
06.03.10 | Pitchfork has the best reviews anywhere, aside from the occasional one on rym which are so hard to find they are hardly worth looking for.
Why did you pick shitty albums as your example? |
vanderb0b
06.03.10 | I've got no problem with their writing, I do with their opinions, which I often disagree with. |
