Best Gig Weekend Ever!

So I went to three gigs this weekend and they were all ridiculously good. SO many new bands and old favourites. Basically a list of what will soon become digs. I think I saw Morris from the Sydney Tapes blog which means most of them will probably be live recordings soon

Pockets

Pockets are so good at what they do. Minus the Bear meets awesome, Real good surfy rock

Holy Samolly

Holy Samolly from what I gathered contain a member of Quebec who were great. They played some minimalist almost instrumental post hardcore. First shows for them but I expect something big

Hira Hira

Yeah I see Hira Hira every week and live with them so just more of the same. Absolutely awesome and so fun. Very good set, Million Dead meets at The Drive In

To the North

To the North came down from Queensland to launch their new 12 inch which is astronomical! (review soon I think) They are the nicest guys ever and the drinks after and during and all over the place were beautiful

Ni Hao

Amazing amazing Japanese band. I don't know what to compare it to but so good!

Limited Express (Has Gone)

Even better! Just one of those bands that absolutely killed it so glad to have been there

When Chimps Attack

When Chimps Attack are one of the most fun best bands I've seen in such a long time. Back after a long hiatus they played their last shows ever this weekend. Such a shame

Vera

Young hardcore I'd never heard before but I really enjoyed it. Kind of like Miles Away with a screamer. Very heavy then very pretty.

Independant Though Alarm

Another first show. This time featuring members of Eucalypt. Kinda sounded like a really heavy Fugazi

Crux

Crux are Sydney's crust kings (and queen) and it is a shame that they will be breaking up soon. Put's a bad name to crust though by incorporating other elements so that every songs not the same

La Quiete

Yeah best band ever. Even though they were crazy jet lagged they still had the entire room caught up in a crazy emotional storm. Can't wait to play with them next thursday

liledman 11.01.09	vera like miles away.....? really? id say theyre more similar to it prevails and the heavy hardcore style of for the fallen dreams etc, but with much more atmosphere. la quiete is sweet, are you playing with them? in melbourne? whats your band?

ultradolphins 11.01.09	I have probably met Ellie before but unfortunately I don't know her by name. Probably not going to come to WA any time soon though. Last time we left the East Coast and played Adelaide it was like the worst thing of all time. Adelaide sucks

ultradolphins 11.01.09	Well Quebec broke up like a year and a half ago AND I'm pretty sure you missed La Quiete seeing as they play there tonight. You also missed the thaw one of Sydneys all time greatest bands

ultradolphins 11.01.09	5th is in Petersham in Sydney (City Area) with my band. They played Newcastle, or probably actually are playing right now. Then up to Queensland then back down mid week. Drive three hours totally worth it
