| My Top 10 (well 12) Albums
These are my choice for best rock and roll albums every, most
here will disagree with me because of my preference but
appreciate the list people. | | 1 | | Bob Dylan
Highway 61 Revisited, Blood on the Tracks, Blonde On Blonde
I know I cheated at the top of the list but choosing between these three is like a parent having to
choose a favorite child. Each has a quality that touched both myself and the world. First, we'll start with
the Highway, in my humble opinion it created the basis for modern rock and roll, the summation of the
folk movements influence on rock, the blues's influence, and the countless other forms to create a
sound unrivaled by most other recordings. Blood on the Tracks, shows the truest form of poetry that
created through pain. Like the countless bluesman and countryman before him Dylan allows his guitar
and small band to weep and moan his troubles and tribulations. Finally, to Blonde on Blonde, which I
view as Dylan's most solid album in terms of both lyrical and musical qualities. Venomous and mean,
while balancing the introspective and lovely songs Dylan walks to tightrope of human emotions here. | | 2 |  | The Clash
London Calling
The Clash weren't merely a punk band or a rock band, they were a news source, and what was found in
this particular album was the end all of music. From the opening calls of atomic fallout Joe Strummer
summeised that after him nothing would matter very much, in terms of brilliant music he was right. | | 3 | | The Rolling Stones
Exile on Main Street
While Beggars Banquet or Sticky Fingers would both be more than deserving choices this album to
mean is at the true essence of rock and roll. Dirty, gritty, mean, the guitars wail over countless tales of
sex and drugs, the horns only backup the sentiments expressed by Mic Jagger's crooked and hardened
voice. All of the mania is kept together by both Keith Richard's incredible rhythm senes and Charlie
Watts' tight drumming. | | 4 |  | The Band
The Band
Four Canadians and an American created a work that transcends the very thread of America. Lifting the
vail of sentimental yarns and tall tales the Band explore the people of American from the Civil War to
the Great Depression. If one listens close enough to the heartfelt music you can almost hear the whistle
of the winds of the cool wheat plains that fed our nation, the moans of soldiers wounded in our
greatest battles, and the cheers of Independence Day celebrations. | | 5 | | The Beatles
Sg. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
Often refereed to as the paradigm shift in modern music the album is the blending of incredible
production values, keen harmonic sensibilities, and incredibly well constructed pop tunes. | | 6 | | The Who
Who's Next
An album that sums of the sexual frustration, the social anxiety, the vehement attitude to the world,
that plague the common teenage male, and through its heart stopping guitar riffs, smashing cymbals,
and unerring baselines, and the famous screams into one simple question, not simply Who's Next but

Born To Run
As a person hailing from the Philadelphia region The Boss has always been important to us. Born in the
Middle of Jersey were allowed to share him with the New Yorkers, but this album has a Philly feel to it, a
sort of survivalist mentality, put down, beaten and battered but rising up and still swinging the music
jumps with attitude and heartbreak, poetry and anger, his explosion into the realm of greatness. It
follows losers, dimwits, deadeners and men who's dreams have escaped them but vividly paints there
need for acceptance and love and if denied the fragility of there eminent fate. | | 8 |  | Paul Simon
Graceland
The album blends the roots of American music, blues, folk, gospel, jazz and sprinkles the people from
the world homeland in Africa to create a mind-bending travel not around the world but into it's soul.
Time nearly stops as the music breaks all barriers allowing the platform for men together to expresses
their emotions, heartfelt and pure. The strength of the intimate lyrics and the help of emotive choral
background brings out some of the greatest music every recorded. | | 9 | | The Kinks
Village Green Preservation Society
Ray Davie's mind was never far from his home, unfortunately, his home hadn't exits for many years. The
album is one of yearning and heartbreak held simply together with guitar lines and drum fills. The pain
experienced are those felt by all Britons in their life, wars fought and those lost, the attack on their
once tranquil way of life, to the existence of lands that will let the imagination set free. Ray creates
worlds and peoples who's emotions are so tangible that allow the listener a front row seat to the
destruction of his world. | | 10 |  | Albert King
Born Under A Bad Sign
From the opening track the "Velvet Bulldozer" truly keeps in line with his namsake, as he bulldozes
through your brain, the intensity the power of the full blast horns, the thumping bass and drums, and
the screeching guitar may make a first time listener shout "What the Hell Was that " after the song is
finished. But the album continues to mesmerize with Kings blues virtuoso style playing and the power
of Booker T. and The Mgs. gives the album a heart pounding sense of pride and anger. | |

i have to say that my sentimental yarn has not been lifted for a long time
