| Recommend Me Some Classics
Title says it all really, just recommend me some of your favourite albums, any and all of you, I want to listen to some really quality stuff, I'm not overly fussed what genre it is in, though don't stray too far from my precious metal (anything progressiveish is fine though!)
These albums have nothing to do with this really, just some I've been listening to a lot really, going through some of my favourites and new acquisitions.
Ha! I accidently deleted my newest list by mistake, ah well, only checked out the Fair to Midland album so far, and it's effin awesome. | 1 | | Warning Watching From a Distance | 2 | | maudlin of the Well Bath | 3 | | Orphaned Land Mabool (The Story of the Three Sons...) | 4 | | Disillusion Back to Times of Splendor | 5 | | Neurosis Given to the Rising | |

03.01.08 | Pain of Salvation-the Perfect Element
Cryptopsy-None So Vile | Crimson
03.01.08 | I definitely want that second one, cheers. | Crimson
03.01.08 | lol? | Angmar
03.02.08 | I'm not bothering to see if you have any of these, but:
Ulver - Bergtatt
Summoning - Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame
Katatonia - Viva Emptiness
Empyrium - Where at Night the Wood Grouse Plays
Drudkh - Autumn Aurora
Agalloch - The Mantle
Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
Death - Human
I think you wouldn't have too much trouble getting into any of these really. | jebus FX
03.02.08 | Cryptopsy - None So Vile - a must.
Streetlight Manifesto - Everything Goes Numb - quality ska punk
Dissection - Storm the Lights Bane | masscows
03.02.08 | Immolation-Close to a World Below
and I'll beat a dead horse and say
Cryptopsy-None So Vile
(although I like Close to a World Below a little more) | Crimson
03.02.08 | Great stuff everyone, I'll be sure to check everything out.
Already have that Dissection album jebus, but I'm definitely gonna get that Cryptopsy album, ska punk though? Not sure if that will be my style, but I'll still look up some samples etc... I wasn't keen on Immolation's latest, is CtaWB better than that? (all of yours, angmar, look good to me, and I don't have any of them) | masscows
03.02.08 | Close to a World Below is the epitome of evil, crushing death metal, so yeah, it's alot better. It's full of plodding, evil riffs, dissonant melody, shitloads of syncopation and tense up-release stuff, and is one of the only death metal albums I've heard that has such an effective atmosphere.
(Although I like their latest alot too). | DWittisarockstar
03.02.08 | I've only given a classic rating to The Downward Spiral and The Fragile, both by Nine Inch Nails.
My 4.5s are...
All Shall Perish-The Price of Existence(quality deathcore, for once)
Fair To Midland- Fables from a Mayfly(not what I expected)
Porcupine Tree- Fear of a Blank Planet(I need to listen to this again. You probably already know about this)
Protest the hero- duh
Refused- The Shape of Punk to Come(Punk)
Saul Williams- The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust(industrial hip-hop)
The Mars Volta- Frances the Mute
The Number 12 Looks LIke You- Put on Your Rosey Red Glasses, or Mongrel(grind)
Zao- Liberate to Ex Infernus(metalcore)
You've probably heard all these though. | Bfhurricane
03.02.08 | You seriously need Follow the Reaper by Children of Bodom and Ride the Lightning by Metallica. | Chewie
03.02.08 | deftones- white pony | Mendigo
03.02.08 | get both Kayo Dot albums (or all three, the new one is released soon), especially Choirs of the Eye is a must have. and I think you'd like King Crimson - Red and maybe Yes - Relayer.
of course I recommend all my 5 and 4.5 ratings strongly, but I can't garantee you'd like the majority of it. | TheSportingSwine
03.02.08 | Check out Isis, they are brilliant. Try either Panopticon or In the Absence of Truth. | jrowa001
03.02.08 | Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Murder Ballads (not metal haha but twisted enough lyrically it could be a metal album)
Deathbringer - Homo Divisus (a new death metal band who are very Death influenced)
Evoken - Antithesis of Light (doom metal at its finest)
Newbreed - Children of the Sun (prog. rock)
these are all 5's for me |
