| What Wave Are You?
I've always wondered why I have such a hard time liking new music rtrends. I mean, things rlike djent and deathcore. I can still listen to a rcouple of bands in those genres, but it's like rthe whole movement doesn't meanra lot to me.rOddly enough, my favorite bands all had their rbest moments in one rparticular piece of time: late 90's - early 00' (it probably helps that I rwas rborn in the early 90's). So this metalcore/post-hardcore movement had a rcopious ramount of influence on me, to the point where it defines my rpersonality. So I imagine that rtime as the "late 90's - early 00's core rwave".rAnd I'm pretty sure all of you guys have some ridea of what your "wave" rwas, which I'd be more than happy to hear. Back when Kurt Ballou was not making every deathwish band sound exactly the same, he
was churning out masterpieces like this one. The most brilliant use of atmosphere in a
metalcore album I've ever heard. | 2 | | Converge Jane Doe
C'mon, you expected this one. Words don't really do it justice. | 3 | | The Dillinger Escape Plan Calculating Infinity
It simply broke any notions about how music should or shouldn't be made. I SMELL THAT
WHORE!!! | 4 | | Every Time I Die Hot Damn!
Yum, fun metalcore! (fantastic lyrics to boot) | 5 | | Glassjaw Worship and Tribute
Stuck Pig is the heaviest song ever, even if it's only using a couple of chords. | 6 | | Poison the Well The Opposite of December
Best "Verb the Noun" band ever. | 7 | | Johnny Truant In the Library of Horrific Events
Alright, so this is 2005, not exactly early 00's. But I feel it's one of the "newer"
bands that captured that ol' metalcore feeling. | 8 | | KEN mode Entrench

04.27.14 | I was born in 85 so ended up being exposed to numetal at first and then metalcore no long after that. I spent a few years obsessing over bands like killswitch engage, bleeding through, converge and tdep before discovering black metal. The rest as they say is history. Ive loved music since i can remember though, my parents bought me my first hifi when i was 5 with a stack of cds, that was the beginning of my lifelong obsession. My small pile of cds has now became a small room in my home filled with thousands. | owen

09.01.14 | I like most of these albums. Never heard 7 or 8. I was partially scene wave partially 2003-2006 metalcore wave. I still go back to a lot of those bands and also have a hard time listening to this djent deathcore crap. | Apollo
