| What Piece Of Gear To Buy Next?
I have 200 bucks burning in my pocket, so I need to buy one of these 3
pieces of gear (the ones in brackets are the ones I currently own,
followed by the ones I would buy new).
Headphones: (Sony MDR-570LP) > Sennheiser 202/219/205/419 (I really
can't deicide which model would be best)
Audio interface: (Behringer Guitar Link) > Focusrite Scarlett 2i4
Bass Guitar: (none) > Yamaha RBX170
My main needs are on getting better gear for music production. I'm doing
it all in-the-box, with a laptop and headphones. Based on the gear I
already have, what would you guys recommend I buy next? | 1 | | The Ocean Pelagial | 2 | | A Lot Like Birds No Place | 3 | | Shining Blackjazz | 4 | | Hacride Lazarus | 5 | | Dethklok The Doomstar Requiem | |

11.01.13 | i don't give a fuck what you buy i just want my motherfucking distortion pedal to arrive on my god damn door step. | joshuahuntkc
11.01.13 | get the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. I have one of the larger interfaces of the scarlett series but they all have the same pre amps and it's pretty awesome IMO. I guess it depends on what your recording and if you have mics or not but if your getting into engineer seriously its great. plus it comes with a really great compressor and reverb. The Eq and the gate are alright also. | Dolving999
11.01.13 | @conesmoke, I wish I had the money to buy pedals hahaha
@joshuahuntkc, cool! I've heard good things from those series. I don't use mics, I just run my guitar (LTD EQ-100QM) into the interface and use modelling software to create my tone. Do you think it will make a big difference in the sound when changing from a Behringer Guitar Link (cheap piece of crap) to a 2i4? | SCREAM!
11.01.13 | Got my first (and only) pedal for Christmas last year since there was also no way I could afford one normally haha. I don't know your current headphones but if they're at least decent then those should he the least of your worries since they won't change the way your recordings sound.
If you're recording stuff alone it seems like the bass guitar would be the next logical step unless you've got one you can borrow from someone | joshuahuntkc
11.01.13 | I'm sure it would make a difference but you might as well buy a 2i2 because there is no need for a 2i4 if your only running guitar. | joshuahuntkc
11.01.13 | while a bass guitar would do wonders for recording, save up and buy one that's more than 300$ or it wont really be worth it. | Dolving999
11.01.13 | Here's what happens: I've researched a lot about the 2i2 vs 2i4, and seeing as the 2i2 doensn't have a
pad (for guitar input) it really doesn't hold a candle to the 2i4 for what I want. There's also the
midi input.
Also, I do need to buy a bass, but I make do for now with a special patch on Amplitube that turns the
signal into a bass sound (I know, I know, it's a poor-man's bass, but hey, it works). |
