Blood Sugar Sex Magik Ranked
Mr. Bungle >
But this album is a classic. |
17 | Red Hot Chili Peppers They're Red Hot
Because lol. But honestly, they couldn't have ended the album more perfectly. |
16 | The Greeting Song
The band's not a huge fan of this song but it's fast-paced and catchy as all hell. |
15 | Naked in the Rain
The rhythm section is tight as fuck here. Not exactly a standout track though.
It's solid. |
14 | If You Have to Ask
I never heavily got into this song, but it's a fun listen at least. It probably has
one of Flea's most interesting basslines on the album. |
13 | Funky Monks
It's so mild-mannered in it's funktasticness and then that guitar solo just comes
in and rips. |
12 | Breaking the Girl
It's a solid song. The junkyard percussion section is an early album highlight,
but the rest is a bit pedestrian. |
11 | Give it Away
I used to like this song much more than I do not. But after 100+ plays it's
become slightly irritating. It's one of their signature songs though and a good
way to get pumped up fosho. |
10 | Suck My Kiss
Another one that got overplayed a bit by me. But it's still pretty damn fun. |
9 | My Lovely Man
Frusciante sounds absolutely riffy on this song. Has one of the best solo sections
on the album. |
8 | Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Song is repetitive but it doesn't really matter because it's so damn infectious. |
7 | Apache Rose Peacock
This song reminds me of a more developed cut from Freaky Styley. The lyrics
are bizarre to say the least and the song meanders along at its moderate tempo
without much change. But it works really well, and it's probably because Kiedis
gives one of his most varied and interestingly-paced vocal performances ever. |
6 | Mellowship Slinky in B Major
Song is just funky as fuck. |
5 | The Righteous and the Wicked
This is one of the Chilis' more under-appreciated songs. I love the moseying
bassline and the wall of distortion during the chorus. It puts me in somewhat of
a trance. The guitar bridge, while repetitive, is quite infectious and brings to
mind old spy movies. Thematically, it's an interesting touch. |
4 | The Power of Equality
I think I've had the lyrics to this song memorized since the 7th grade. I've
always thought it was one of their strongest songs lyrically. The thin production
might kill it a little but it's a hell of a lot of fun and a great opener. |
3 | Sir Psycho Sexy
Hyperbolic-sexual-funk-goodness straight to your anal cavity. |
2 | Under the Bridge
There was a time that was completely sick of this song, but I'm glad that's over
and done with. |
1 | I Could Have Lied
Because I mean, the guitar solos are perfect. And Anthony doesn't sound like a
bag of dicks. |
