| Buying Spree!!!
Been on a buying spree for the past month or so due to getting
300 dollars of b-day money. Up to today, I have bought 20
albums with that money. The first 12 on the list i downloaded, the
final 8 i own tangibly. | 1 | | Between the Buried and Me Alaska
First album i got with it. Spectacular, with no noticable flaws. This and Colors are about equal in
greatness imo. | 2 | | Thrice The Artist in the Ambulance
Tried to get a less metal album, and I believe I chose a good one. Lots of great songs, especially the
middle of the album especially (mainly tracks 5-8) | 3 | | Orphaned Land Mabool (The Story of the Three Sons...)
This grows on me with each listen. Perfect mix of death metal, progressive moments, and traditional
Israel music. | 4 | | Thrice Vheissu
Almost as good as TAITA, but falls a bit short. "The Earth Will Shake" is currently my favorite Thrice song. | 5 | | Death Symbolic
SoP still bores me slightly, this album does the opposite. Amazing album, every song is a highlight.
Possibly my favorite by Death, rivaling ITP | 6 | | Necrophagist Epitaph
The speed and technicallity of this album is breath-taking, and the album gets even better as it
progresses. | 7 | | Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
Purchased this cuz Cherub Rock was on guitar hero. I was surprised at how emotional the album was,
and how much I could get into most of the songs. Mayonaise is now one of my favorite songs ever, and
to this point, and actually brought tears to my eyes. This is probably my favorite non-metal album. | 8 | | Prototype Continuum
Also got this cuz a song on it was on GH. A very speedy, and at times thrashy album. Very solid. I will
most likely review this in the near future. | 9 | | Redemption The Origins of Ruin
Saw them live with Dream Theater. Tons of great guitar leads, and some awesome vocals. | 10 | | Soilwork Sworn to a Great Divide
Took me a while to purchase this album after i heard it, but im glad i did now. About on par with
Natural Born Chaos, just under Chainheart Machine, and below my personal favorite, A Predator's
Portrait. | 11 | | Unearth III: In the Eyes of Fire
All the high praise this site gives this album persuaded me to get it. This was up the hype, as it is near
perfect. Only other metalcore album that can compare with this imo is Waking the Fallen. | 12 | | Between the Buried and Me The Silent Circus
Not quite as good as the two releases that would follow, but still fantastic. "Mordecai" and "Ad a
Dglgmut" are my personal favorites. | 13 | | Blind Guardian Imaginations From the Other Side
I had heard most of this and the next album prior to purchase. A spectacualr slab of power metal, with
the only con being the slightly muddy production on some songs. My second fav BG album behind
ANATO. | 14 | | Blind Guardian Somewhere Far Beyond
The title track is possibly my favorite power metal song of all time. | 15 | | Shadow Gallery Carved in Stone
Currently my favorite SG album. Doesnt feel over-stretched, | 16 | | Shadow Gallery Legacy
Very good album, having some of the band's softest, and heaviest moments. | 17 | | Norther Mirror of Madness
Great melo-death in the vain of Children of Bodom. | 18 | | Insomnium In the Halls of Awaiting
Not as good as their more recent albums, but sports and excellent title track. | 19 | | Tool 10,000 Days
Other than the filler tracks, one of Tool's most solid. Killer artwork as well. | 20 | | Death Individual Thought Patterns
All killer no filler, incredibly hard to pick highlights. | |

12.09.07 | 1 is alright, 2 is good. You should check out Demonic Resurrection from India if you like 3. 4 and 7 is sick. 10 and 11 are good, and want 17. | Tyler
12.09.07 | Buying digital music is a total waste of money. | LifeInABox
12.09.07 | 12 is the best tbh
Coke ftw tbh | Thor
12.09.07 | Nice list. Can't go wrong with BTBAM, Tool, Death and more. | Slaytan
12.09.07 | 5, 6, 19, and 20 are great. | jrowa001
12.09.07 | i hate buying digital music. its only worth it when its free lol. great list though. i still need to hear Carved In Stone | Yazz_Flute
12.09.07 | The only reason I buy digital music is because it's much quicker than getting cds in the flesh. I won't be able to drive for 2 years, thus i don't get too many opportunity's to actually get cds (unless i order them, but then they're mad expensive) So i usually result in getting them off itunes honestly, It's not free, but it's cheap enough. It's not like i'd get much else anyway.
I just counted my cds, i own roughly 40 tangibly, and have over 200 overall, so roughly 1/5 of my cds i actually own, the rest i downloaded. I believe the only free album i downloaded was Hvis Lysett Tar Oss. |
