| Maiden Ranked at last!
Never made a Maiden list. Been listening to them for almost half my life now. | 1 | | Iron Maiden Brave New World
An awesome album and a perfect comeback for the "classic" line-up (that is; any line up with Bruce). The vibe on this album is great and it has lots of great melodies and hooks. The epic tracks are awesome, tunes are very catchy, atmospheric and innovative. Ghost Of The Navigator, The Nomad and Dream of Mirrors are some of the best Maiden songs ever IMO. | 2 | | Iron Maiden Somewhere In Time
A very different Maiden than what they were about 3 years back. More prog and somewhat a continuation of what they did on Powerslave, only much better. | 3 | | Iron Maiden Piece Of Mind
Follows the same formula as The Number Of The Beast and this is just as good, but in my opinion a littler better. | 4 | | Iron Maiden Killers
Di'Anno's performance is awesome and this time Maiden return with a better structured album than their debut with much better musicianship. | 5 | | Iron Maiden Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
An awesome concept album, no fast metal tracks here, but still an amazing album. | 6 | | Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
A really good album, some songs are awesome here. This album is a little overrated in my opinion. | 7 | | Iron Maiden Powerslave
More prog than their last release, the songs seem to be structured really well here and are more lengthy and with this album Maiden are able to create a certain atmosphere about what they sing with their musical ability which will be one of their trademarks. | 8 | | Iron Maiden Iron Maiden
An awesome debut. Aggressive, fast, catchy and amazing vocals. Di'Anno's raspy voice suits these songs perfectly. Stratton is not too bad as well, Dave Murray shows a lot of maturity and is very innovative even in his young days. | 9 | | Iron Maiden Fear Of The Dark
Totally epic! Maiden try to go back to their NWOBHM roots, but the album just doesn't stand as a whole in my opinion. I can't put my finger on it, but something was missing here. | 10 | | Iron Maiden Dance Of Death
Great album. No one in college would shut up about it and that's a good thing. | 11 | | Iron Maiden A Matter of Life and Death
Are they getting old? Hell no by the looks of it. Fairly decent album. They seem to be making the same album again and again though. Nothing new here. This album should have been a little heavier too. | 12 | | Iron Maiden No Prayer For The Dying
Not too pleasing. Has many elements missing from what Maiden used to be in their earlier albums. | 13 | | Iron Maiden The X Factor
Would have been a good album if the tunes were better. The album is decent, but doesn't live up to the expectations of Iron Maiden fans. | 14 | | Iron Maiden Virtual XI
Same goes for this album. Blaze is a really good vocalist, but the tunes here are just so bland. It wouldn't be until Adrian Smith returned for Brave New World that there would come a change. "The Clansman" "When Two Worlds Collide" are awesome tracks.
I also loved the Ed Hunter PC game that came along with this. :) | |

05.04.09 | good list man | Bfhurricane
05.04.09 | Awesome list, glad to see some diversity by throwing 6 and 7 down from their usual 1 and 2 spots. Dance of Death and A Matter of Life and Death are way too low though, I think they're two of their best. | kitsch
05.04.09 | lol iron maiden is so gay | bloc
05.04.09 | shite, no idea they had this many albums | Nagrarok
05.04.09 | Original choices, I'll give you that. Some I agree, some I do not. Repetition (in the songs themselves, especially choruses) is what brings down 1 for me. 2 is indeed underrated by many and deserves to be up high.
5, on the other hand, I've always found overrated, concept was not worked out as well as it should have, and some tracks get boring too quickly or are too cheesy for Maiden standards (e.g. Only the Good Die Young). 8 Should be way higher up as well, and is better than Killers imo.
I'm glad you don't find Blaze a horrible vocalists like too many out there, but those years were better than NPFTD and FOTD, those 2 albums sounded completely uninspired. And I wouldn't say all the tunes in the Bayley-era were bland, there are some great gems out there (e.g. Sign of the Cross, The Clansman)
I could comment much more, but this comment is long enough by now... | FadeToBlack
05.04.09 | Strange list.
1, 5, 7, 8 are best | KILL
05.04.09 | 7 is 1 | FadeToBlack
05.04.09 | I find 3 horribly overrated. | ConorMichaelJoseph
05.04.09 | Fair opinion, I guess, but 10 and 11 should be higher up | SylentEcho
05.04.09 | Thanks for the comments. :)
@ Nagrarok, I don't see how BNW gets repetitive, but its your opinion. Just like you've mentioned about 5, Maiden dp come out with cheesy songs every once in a while, I just tend to ignore those. Haha.
Also I loved the Blaze era, he had his own charm, but the band just wasn't trying at that point, or maybe they were trying too hard. Those two albums do have a few amazing tunes, but they will still stay at the bottom of my list. Its just a tie between those two & NPFTD, FOTD. | Nagrarok
05.04.09 | For the sake of understanding, let me make clear that I don't mean Brave New World as an album gets repetitive, it's more that some of the songs' choruses are repeated too many times, which was a problem in the Bayley-era too (e.g. title track and Dream of Mirrors). | FadeToBlack
05.04.09 | BNW (song) has one of maiden's best solos though, so that makes up for it. | FadeToBlack
05.04.09 | Oh and while BNW is easily one of my favourite Maiden albums, I really don't see what's so good about The Nomad. One of my least favourite songs off the album | Athom
05.04.09 | Powerslave + Seventh Son > everything else | Nagrarok
05.04.09 | ^Agrees with the solo, but that's why it even sucks more that the chorus is so weak.
And 'bout the Nomad, first didn't like it, then it grew on me, and then it grew off me again somehow. My least favourite would be Out of the Silent Planet. | Yazz_Flute
05.04.09 | Interesting list, yeah.
