| Moustache Metal!!!
I believe that every member of Sputnik needs to go to Opeth's last.fm profile and hail the dawn of a new genre: moustache metal. Across scandinavia, innovators and visionaries would be spawning new sounds by refusing to shave their upper lip, gaining an Akerfeldtan genius to their music via their facial hair....
...Recent acquisitions. | 1 | | Circa Survive On Letting Go
Did you ever wish you were somebody eeeeelllse!!!??? I'm a sucker for Anthony Green. | 2 | | Caspian Tertia
Very meh post-rock. Good thing it was free. | 3 | | August Burns Red Constellations
Rawrawrawr metalcore!!!! | 4 | | Kaospilot Shadows
How this nearly escaped notice here at Sputnik I have no idea, because it's probably the greatest emo to come out this year so far, especially after thoroughly underwhelming releases by Loma Prieta and Spires. This will probably get lost in the glory of new Kidcrash and (hopefully) Mesa Verde, though... | 5 | | Steven Wilson Insurgentes
It baffles me how much animosity SW gets from prog fans, here and elsewhere. It's always seemed to me like anyone should be able to find something to love about PT and its associates. Oh well. I absolutely love this album. | 6 | | Gospel The Moon Is a Dead World
Finally bought it. Have yet to listen... but I have very Sputnik-elevated hopes. | 7 | | Mono You Are There
I'm giving post-rock another shot... | 8 | | Daylight Dies Dismantling Devotion
Gotta love me some psuedo-doom metal. Speaking of, anyone have any suggestions on where to start for real doom metal? I hate Candlemass. So other than them... | 9 | | Sigur Ros meš suš ķ eyrum viš spilum endalaust
My girlfriend got this for Christmas last year and then returned it because she wanted () instead. When she gave it to the guy at the customer service counter, he started checking out the cover, complete with appreciative nods and blatant raised eyebrows. | |

08.31.09 | Try Godspeed if you want to get into post-rock. It's almost impossible to not like Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada. | NOTINTHEFACE
08.31.09 | I do admit that I have yet to hear Godspeed. My main problem with post-rock is that is really just has no staying power for me. I can listen to it once and think "that was nice" but after the fifth time, it's worn thin and uninspiring. I want post-rock that I feel like giving a 5 to. | Nikkolae
08.31.09 | if you want real doom try necro schitza, im loving that album at the moment, and translating the name ep by saosin is way better than circa survive | Nikkolae
08.31.09 | Necro Schizma sorry lol | Prophet178
08.31.09 | Yeah Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada and F#A#(infinity) are both 5 worthy. I know a bunch of people that can contest to Godspeed single handedly getting them into post-rock too. | cirq
08.31.09 | I'm totally gay for a. green too.. Oh and yeah, post rock is good mood music for me.. Just posted in the dark with headphones on | OllieS
08.31.09 | 8 is amazing, the genre is irrelevant | XulOnerom
08.31.09 | Any list for moustache metal needs Clutch | illmitch
08.31.09 | because, you know, Lemmy never had a famous moustache or anything | XulOnerom
08.31.09 | Motorhead is wart metal | illmitch
08.31.09 | lol good call | PanasonicYouth
08.31.09 | fuck moustaches. beards are where its at. specifically neckbeards. | NOTINTHEFACE
08.31.09 | I invite my fellow sputnikers to continue tagging bands on last.fm that possess prominent moustaches. The genre will emerge victorious. | Zoo
08.31.09 | Sometimes I wish I could grow facial hair. |
