Fat 2012 Pt. 8

some people (see: jerks) think i suck for making this lists. some other people think i don't suck for making these lists. i don't mean to come off as such an asshole most of the time, it's just back in the day sputnik used to be a lot different, and i yearn for such a time. anyway, here's some goodies
5Curren$y and Styles P
#The1st28

Spitta Andretti's latest collaboration has him working with Styles P with mostly positive results. The album art, in particular, is rad as fuck. FFO: either of these guys' solo work
4Aspiga/Hanalei
Split

Aspiga is one of my favorite indie rock/pop-punk bands right now, and this split is more great material from them. Hanalei's side is also pretty sweet. FFO: Dashboard Confessional before they sucked, How Do We Jump This High?, etcha
3Ghostface Killah and DJ Premier
Duel Of The Iron Fists

i was really pleasantly surprised by this one. it's not so much a mixtape as it is an old-school style blend tape, and that just brings the nostalgia by the hundredfold. FFO: Wu-Tang Clan's solo stuff, 90s rap in general
2No Trigger
Tycoon

i read the couple of sound offs for this, and those guys pretty much got it all wrong. this album rules because this IS no trigger's style of punk. it's been done to death, but no one will ever do it like they do. FFO: that melodic shit
1The Mars Volta
Noctourniquet

as expected this is pretty wild and, most importantly, a good bit different from what they've done before. FFO: as if i could really compare this band to any others. maybe zechs marquise?
