Hell: a song about suicide. | | 2 | Cat Like Thief
Heaven. The most beautiful, underrated and unnoticed part of this album is the combination of Elevator and Cat Like Thief. Elevator is clearing talking about suicide, but Cat Like Thief only makes you think it's talking about suicide.
"Call me back when word is that she's gone
Cat like thief she stole air from my lungs
Leave me standing on this lonely grave
I dug it out in case she turns away"
To me, the last 2 lines of this stanza are not AT ALL AT ALL about suicide. Instead they're referring to "Til death do us part" as in you will always and forever be the one for me. | | 1 | Instrumental
This song goes out to anyone who’s been beat down, picked on, put down or left high and dry, and instead of being hurt by it, they instead rise above it all and are left with a feeling closer to invincibility… or at the very least the feeling that they can’t hurt you even if they try. | |

I remember most viscerally feeling this album, riding around Riverside (IL), being at a specific friend's house, and also when I used to travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, we would always go to Bucerias which is a small town nearby. I can remember clear as day taking the taxi to Dugarel's in Bucerias, which was one of our favorite places to eat, since it was in a small town right on the ocean, with a quaint, modest, but fun family vibe with delicious food... The same friend I mentioned was there with me too the last time I listened to this before this past weekend, more than 15 years later!
Now I know why I love it so much! |
