10.31.23 | I'm bored out of my mind at work so humor me. |
MO
10.31.23 | man no Leatherface? |
MoM
10.31.23 | I love all the movies here, but I’d also include TCM and some things I’m forgetting |
BAT
10.31.23 | Love hellraiser but idk if it's a slasher lol. I like the chucky sequels more than the original(similarly the leprechaun sequels but chuck>lep). Id say scream or elm street are probably the most consistent slasher franchises, but halloween and fridaypt.4 are all time bangers.
Gotta always shoutout stage fright 1987 and pieces. The sleepaway camp movies are also fun. For a 'sleazy NY slasher' marathon go for: maniac, New York ripper, cruising, and driller killer. 10 to midnight is also a fun oddity but forget if it's in NY or not, likewise for another not quite slasher movie but similar: vice squad. |
bellovddd
10.31.23 | Sleepaway camp movies as soooooooooooo much fun. Maniac cop movies as well are set in New York and are also a good watch |
bellovddd
10.31.23 | Honestly I'm not a huge fan of Texas Chainsaw so it slipped my mind |
BAT
10.31.23 | First two chainsaws are great, 3 and 4 are 'interesting' and never saw any of the ones after the 03 remake, which was 'okay' |
MoM
10.31.23 | Sleepaway Camp was wild as shit. Even watched the sequels.
|
bellovddd
10.31.23 | ye Sleepaway camp sequels are just as crazy lol. I liked the remake of Texas chainsaw in 03 the most out of the entire series. |
BAT
10.31.23 | In the pantheon of 2000s horror remakes Texas chainsaw holds up better than 13th/elm street. I'd say the best remake of that Era goes to hills have eyes
And yeah the Pamela Springsteen camps are gems |
bellovddd
10.31.23 | ye Hills Have Eyes would be the best. I also really enjoyed the remake of It's Alive! |
BAT
10.31.23 | Now there's a franchise I've not seen in over a decade, I'll check it out haven't seen the og in forever
|
bellovddd
10.31.23 | DO IT! the remake was a fun watch and Larry Cohen is still the writer! |
budgie
10.31.23 | sleepaway camp 2 is straight up one the best horror comedies ever what a sleeper film. like top 5. |
bellovddd
10.31.23 | the leatherface scene is glorious in SC2 |
fogza
10.31.23 | What was the killer in I know what you did called? Like the hook slickers guy |
MoM
10.31.23 | The Fisherman |
artiswar
10.31.23 | Terrifier 2 was fun |
MoM
10.31.23 | ^ nice! Seeing it in theaters on Wednesday for a Halloween-ish showing |
artiswar
10.31.23 | It's really long and has some pretty brutal scenes. If you like 80's slashers you'll feel right at home |
MoM
10.31.23 | Ahh, i love it. It’ll be my third time watching it. The nauseating glee of Art the Clown is something else |
artiswar
10.31.23 | The Loved Ones is one that I watch often around Halloween. Not a slasher, more of an Australian riff on Saw. Brutal, uncomfortable and funny at the same time |
MoM
10.31.23 | The Loved Ones is really good! Crazy people doing crazy shit |
artiswar
10.31.23 | I'm impressed you know that one. You should make a Halloween horror list and we can talk some indie horror. I love horror but slashers I honestly find pretty tedious |
artiswar
10.31.23 | like, that part when they're just throwing rocks at the dude in the tree, that shit is way scarier and realer than any contrived slasher shit imo |
bellovddd
10.31.23 | The Loved Ones is a great watch! |
Zac124
10.31.23 | 1 is definitely the best out of these. Where is Suspiria (1977) though? |
artiswar
10.31.23 | Susperia is so good I just throw it on in the bg sometimes while working |
bellovddd
10.31.23 | Susperia is probably in my top 5 all time horror movies but I was going more for the 'iconic' slasher killers here not just movies. |
PizzaBear
10.31.23 | "1 is definitely the best out of these. Where is Suspiria (1977) though?"
Neither are slashers though
I just saw The Hitcher (1986) for the first time and it was a solid little known slasher film |
SteakByrnes
10.31.23 | Scream 1 is one of my favorite movies ever, Neve Campbell my beloved |
budgie
10.31.23 | im look at my letterboxd and its pretty depressing since 2020 there really have not been so many great films at least to my taste. the passenger, werewolves within, candy land, broadcast signal intrusion, slaxx, underwater, those are all the 4+s, since 2020! and the 10's decade was the best decade for horror, the 20's shapin up to suck a big one, lamesies
|
bellovddd
10.31.23 | Blumhouse has made horror so generic and boring everything is the same.
The hitcher is awesome. Rutger was truly a under appreciated actor |
Hawks
10.31.23 | "sleepaway camp 2 is straight up one the best horror comedies ever what a sleeper film. like top 5."
FUCKING THIS!!! |
