dedex
07.06.23 | ha that's the tricky part: it doesn't really make things work out (you judiciously pointed out '68), especially with the Philippe the Fair-like ruler we currently have. 7
In fact it currently seems worse than before: prior to Covid there were massive strikes and riots in France deploring the really bad situation the poorer were in, and no structural reforms were made. Same shit the past year with the retirement reforms that bypassed the lower house of the Parliament (National Assembly), at some point there were more than 1million people in the street and it didn't change anything.
tldr we get mad and the big chief doesn't bat an eye
yet we still get mad because we were raised being told we should say when things aren't pleasing |

07.08.23 | the levels of pollution we're comfortable living in within urban areas is going to be looked back on in as little as 40 years time at some stone age Flintstones shit
'Just because they couldn't see the pollution they thought they were ok! But it was worse for them than the smog in the industrial revolution, all those diesel fumes!'
Actually getting some wheezing asthma for the first time this year with my hay fever, in fact hay fever is entirely linked to pollution as it was a rare condition 200 years ago, now about a third of the population affected and that's growing. Entirely linked to pollution splitting and altering the pollen - governments are pushing through quick reforms on air quality because this stuff was underestimated and is also going to get worse with any climate warming (they say '60% worse' - no idea what this figure means) |
CugnoBrasso
07.08.23 | I luckily grew up in the countryside, but that's true, research has shown that the probability of developing asthma depends on how close you live to the highway. Temperature and humidity also influence the amount of airbourne particles, I can see how global warming could make it worse... Electric cars might not be the solution to global warming but when it comes to air quality they can help. |
DoofDoof
07.08.23 | Not just asthma, even hay fever is a lot more prevalent in cities which seems nonsensical but definitely linked to pollution.
Pollution from traffic actually only makes up 50% of the fumes in urban areas but yeah, that pollution needs to be shifted out of these areas - they're working on it pretty fast and that says it all. The scientists hath spoken, it ain't good.
