RateYourMusic is a terrible site

I've been off this site for a while, but in the mean time I tried to use RateYourMusic as another place to read reviews and get other perspectives and reviews for music. And man. I've heard about how trash this site is for the longest time, but I never realized how bad it was until I joined. Shit site. Sticking to Sputnik from here on out. People wanna talk about pompous people can be on here, but they're WAY more pretentious on RYM. Here's some of the worst takes I've read on the site.
1Stryper
Soldiers Under Command

The military infrastructure built on religion and corporate / political greed needs dismantling and that means dismissing music that is used as a recruitment tool for the far-right. (A relevant book: God's Profits: Faith, Fraud, and the Republican Crusade for Values Voters. - Sarah Posner: "these televangelists work together to maximize profits; protect themselves legally; influence elections, judicial nominations, and promote their pro-war, apocalyptic ideas." - Goodreads)
Surely a secular humanist approach would be much better for Stryper instead of this divisive stance. After all we are all united as citizens of planet earth and it's the only one we've got!
2Twisted Sister
Stay Hungry

it makes me sad honestly because if you look at the album cover and see Dee there decked out in all his Hair band glory you think. "My god! WHAT IS THAT?!!" that my friends is a man dedicated to freedom. that my friends is a man dedicated to his fans. that my friend is a man who has spent his life helping other people find the energy to rock out, the will to go on, and the option to be free to listen to what we want. Not what some uptight prissy person who thinks that certain things should not be said, mentioned or even thought about in the music industry. if it wasn't for Dee Snyder and others like John Denver and so many more, music as we know it today would not exits.
3W.A.S.P.
The Last Command

I specifically stayed away from W.A.S.P. on purpose. They seemed ultra-lame up against the already lame artists that were ruling the charts. Plus, they were ugly and I got the (false) impression they were part of that shitty satanic, death, thrash bullshit that was starting. I also thought they may have been racists.
4Savatage
Hall of the Mountain King

Before 'Tage discover opera and classical music and start to suck beyond words ,becoming an embarrasment ,they were a good US power/heavy band with lots of balls attitude and talent.Jon' siren in full effect here and while this is not as good ad their two first masterpieces is very satisfying US metal. Ignore "Streets" (yuck) and "Dead Winter Dead" (oh boy) and pay this album your respects.

(For the record his take on this specific album isn't that bad, it's him putting down the operatic elements of later Savatage albums that gets me. That's what made Savatage unique lmao)
5John Williams
E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial

How can we forget the timeless tale of the death and rebirth of the Jesus of 1980s consumerism through the tearful eyes of small children while epic music swells in a never-ending nausea of emotionalism, even if he resorts to genitalia-shaped fingers to touch our grey hearts? 1.5/5

(Lmao someone actually said this about fucking ET holy shit)
6Soundtrack (Film)
Anchorman: Music from the Motion Picture

Because, really, if "Anchorman" doesn't deliver laughs then it's good nothing else to give. The plot's typical, there's no fancy fight scenes or CG monsters to look at and Will Ferrell isn't a particularly good actor. Some may laugh at "Anchorman", I don't.

(Not saying Anchorman is peak cinema or anything but the full review is multiple paragraphs of this dude saying, "Some may find this funny, but I didn't")
