11.12.20 | I'll post mine probably at the end of today after work or tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what people come up with for this. |
Divaman
11.12.20 | I think this might be too complicated. It's bouncing off my wee little tiny attention span. |
SlothcoreSam
11.12.20 | 1. Going to kick things off with an acoustic set of Nirvana, pretty much the MTV concert with a couple of bonus tracks.
2. Shifting gears a little, next up is The Clash, playing London Calling in full.
3. How do you top the Clash, something a little more modern, and lesser known, but such a great live band. Pup. Full of energy, great live band to get the party into full swing.
4. Then the headline act, another lesser known band in most circles, but a live experience for the ages. A band that were never given a chance to shine, people would flock from miles to get the opportunity to see them. Death, out of Detroit.
So to sum it all up
1. Nirvana, acoustic MTV set
2. The Clash, London Calling set
3. PUP, best of set
4. Death, Whatever the fuck they want to play set, but mostly tracks off ...for the whole world to see

11.12.20 | you should make a rule about like "I want (band) circa (year)". Because Metallica in the late 80s compared to them now, for example. |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | @Diva it's really not. Give me a four artist line-up that you think would make a great concert. All the other rules are just to help brainstorm or to give ideas.
@Josh Do you think that will complicate things more? Or just stick with something like "Metallica playing 80's material only"?
|
Josh D.
11.12.20 | I have Live Shit: Binge and Purge, and I've seen them live in modern times. There isn't a comparison. I don't think it's a complicated rule. Also, I think of the Taking Back Sunday guy's voice today...yikes. I mean if we can put dead people, let's time travel too. |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | Lol sounds good. I'll toss it up there. |
Josh D.
11.12.20 | When I think of lists like this, my mind usually goes to hardcore because of the overall experience moreso than just the artists. Like sure, I'd like to see Jimi at Woodstock, but it wouldn't be on the bill as many others I'd put on a bill. Small venues with raucous crowds to also witness is kinda my thing even though I stopped going to concerts a while back for various reasons.
That being said, just based off some of my ratings:
1 - End
2 - Fear Before (playing The Always Open Mouth)
3 - Glassjaw (I'm not even a big fan, I've just seen them live and it was great)
4 - Every Time I Die (playing a setlist I make for them) |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | Also, you reminded me Josh, but I added something about specific group line-ups.
Don't worry about specifying songs or setlists. That'll be an entirely different game haha. |
Divaman
11.12.20 | OK.
1. Opening act - 1970s The Good Rats
2. up 2nd - 1990s Black 47
3. up 3rd - 1970s Jethro Tull
4. headliner - 1970s The Who |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | @Josh I had actually thought about doing a hardcore one as well and ETiD was going to be my headliner haha. Never heard of Fear Before though so I'll have to check em out.
@Diva excellent. |
bludngorevidal
11.12.20 | For the purposes of structuring my thoughts, I went with the perfect emotional hxcore show:
1. Trachimbrod
2. Suis la Lune
3. Cara Neir
4. Vi som alskade varandra sa mycket |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | @bludngorevidal
I've literally never heard of any of these artists but I guess I'm just a normie when it comes to hardcore. Cheers! |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.12.20 | Everyone is just gonna vote for their own concert |
wham49
11.12.20 | opening is Old and in the Way
then Legion of Mary
then Ratdog
then The good ole Grateful Dead with Pigpen on the keys |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | @Lorde You sound like the grumpy kid at the edge of the playground who sees everyone having a good time but refuses to play. Jump in the sandbox dude. |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | And by everyone I mean three people but still..... |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.12.20 | Chill out, who said I wasn't gonna play? |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.12.20 | But it would make sense to have a rule that you cant vote for your own
Will make the results a little less predictably dispersed at least |
Colton
11.12.20 | fuck this game is such a good time, wish I could participate in such a riveting experience but unfortunately I'm a grump |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | Yeah, once I compile everyone's shit I'll create a new list for voting and stuff. |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | @Colton Even grumps can un-grump themselves. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.12.20 | If I wanted to be a dirty whore I'd just make the concert Radiohead, Converge, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Deftones or some shit but I think I'd rather make my own dream concert |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | lol Damn dude once Sputnik jumps on the ball and sets up their own music festival they should really consult you. Those tickets would sell like hotcakes. |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
11.12.20 | Mine will be a double headliner night
Up first: Stimming
Up second: Lapalux
Headliner 1: Massive Attack performing Mezzanine anniversary set with Elizabeth Fraser as guest vocalist
Headliner 2: The Knife performing their full shaking the habitual tour set
|
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | I've never checked Massive Attack. Forgive me father... |
ArsMoriendi
11.12.20 | Headliners: PJ Harvey & Pixies
Supporting lesser-known acts: Brainiac and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282
-Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 would open and play for a half-hour
-Brainiac would follow for a half-hour
-PJ Harvey for an hour
-Pixies would the big draw and would play for an hour and a half
3 and a half hours for a 4 artist concert sees realistic, maybe 8:30 pm -midnight
To keep things realistic: I'm setting this concert in 1996, before Tim Taylor died, so all artists will only be playing their material up to that point (which helps PJ fit stylistically with the other artists anyway) |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | @ars Nice attention to detail. I don't think I've even put that much thought into my own line-up haha. |
davezillaMP3
11.12.20 | Opening Act: Nothingface

HEADLINER: BABYMETAL
Ideal Setlist Intro: In The Name of 1: Karate 2: Megestune 3:Doki Doki Morning 4: Headbangaa 5:Shanti Shanti Shanti 6: Papaya! 7. YAVA! 8: Syncopation 9: DISTORTION (Feat. HEADLINER: The GazettE
Ideal Setlist: intro.9999.99 1. Falling 2. VORTEX 3. GABRIEL IN THE GALLOWS. 4.the mortal 5. headache man 6.STUPID TINY INSECT 7. PSYCHOPATH(Feat. Matt Holt)8. filth in beauty 9. Taion 10.Chizuru 11.RUTHLESS DEED (Feat. Garret Russel) 12: DIM SCENE 13.undying 14.DEUX 15. ATTITUDE 16. Inside Beast (feat. Babymetal) 17. tomorrow Never dies. (encore: REMEMBER THE URGE, DERANGEMENT, TWO OF A KIND, BABYLONS TABOO, The Invisible Wall. Yes the band does 5 song-long encores)
all of the acts fall under the Nu-metal or Metalcore umbrella (or have large traces of it in their sound), as That is the core sound of the GazettE (Epeicully in this setlist) and i want all the acts to tie back into that. All acts also have rather impressive Musicianship in spite of the reputation of those 2 genres and can connect a bit on lyrical themes. Babymetal adds a little fun into the setlist too and can lighten the mood slightly while still being very energetic and hype (and The GazettE have some songs that fit that vibe too), I even thought it would be cool to have some special guest appearances here and there. With the setlists, I also wanted to best represent each band's catalog (minus nothing face, who I kept to mostly their final 2 albums with a song from the debut thrown in) Babymetal for example got nearly even distribution between their three albums (Same case with silent planet) and with gazettE, it was every era from STACKED RUBBISH and onwards getting represented by at least 2 songs.)

11.12.20 | some serious effortposting out here damn |
WalrusTusk
11.12.20 | You're telling me. I was literally thinking people would just post four artists, maybe hit me with an album or a line-up year. The setlists are another level of dedication. |
Jots
11.12.20 | a lone autonomous piano performing john cage's 4'33"

11.12.20 | Cool idea. Im probably gonna do progressive/technical metal, basically spawned by my nerd desire to see gorguts and meshuggah at the same time. All these bands have elements of progressive and/or technical metal. Also, I probably love gorguts slightly more than meshuggah (top 2 fav bands), but i think meshuggah being the main headliner would probably attract more attention/a slightly bigger crowd; I believe they are the most popular globally.
Opener #1: Cadaveric Fumes
Opener #2: Artificial Brain
Opening Headliner: Gorguts
Main Headliner: Meshuggah |
