The Objective Top 25 Albums of 2022 of All Time

brief thoughts that are brief are also included
25Mist of Misery
Severance

SYMPHONIC BLACK METAL

Very atmospheric with solid compositions.

Favourite Track:
An Ode to Solitude
24Mindforce
New Lords

THRASH METAL/HARDCORE

Short but sweet and is filled with excellent riffs.

Favourite Track:
New Lords
23Boundaries
Burying Brightness

METALCORE

Really heavy riffs with some top tier breakdowns.

Favourite Track:
My Body Is a Cage or The Tower
22Dawnwalker
House of Sand

PROGRESSIVE METAL

A captivating album that ends with a superb climax.

Favourite Track:
House of Sand II
21Avatarium
Death, Where Is Your Sting

DOOM METAL

Great vocals along with some really interesting and unique instrumentals. The opener is godly.

Favourite Track:
A Love Like Ours
20Everything Everything
Raw Data Feel

SYNTH-POP

Really catchy synth pop. Not much else to say really.

Favourite Track:
My Computer
19Greyhaven
This Bright and Beautiful World

MATHCORE

A great replacement for Every Time I Die while still feeling like they have their own sound. Really catchy choruses on here too.

Favourite Track:
In a Room Where Everything Dies
18Black Matter Device
AUTONOMOUS WEAPONS

MATHCORE/GRIND

It simply riffs.

Favourite Track:
Sesame Street Sweeper
17Ninth Realm
A Fate Unbroken

THRASH METAL/HARDCORE

Some excellent crossover thrash stuff here along with more heavy metal influences as well making it stand out.

Favourite Track:
A Fate Unbroken
16Imperial Circus Dead Decadence
MOGARI - Shi E Fukeru Omoi Wa Rikujoku Sura Kurai

MELODIC DEATH METAL

What the fuck is this but I love it anyway. Some of the best solos of this year are here. Bit bloated though and the artwork shit.

Favourite Track:
YoRHa : Tsumi To Batsu No Rasen
15Moonshield
The Void Squadron

MELODIC DEATH METAL

Could have expanded upon the 8-bit music style a bit more or just got rid of it entirely but otherwise tis is excellent and the solos are incredible which is exactly what I want in my melodeath.

Favourite Track:
The Omega Day
14Amorphis
Halo

MELODIC DEATH METAL/FOLK

Wished Amorphis changed things up a bit here but still, the choruses are anthemic and the melodies are infectious. I will probably never stop loving this band's music.

Favourite Track:
Halo
13Rolo Tomassi
Where Myth Becomes Memory

MATHCORE

Not quite as good as their last two but still absolutely solid with great riffs and a top tier vocal performance.

Favourite Track:
Closer
12Courting
Guitar Music

POST PUNK/ELECTRONIC

Extremely catchy and energetic and I cannot wait to see where they go next. An excellent debut.

Favourite Song:
Famous
11Septicflesh
Modern Primitive

SYMPHONIC DEATH METAL

This just sounds too cool not to like, even if this is a fairly safe record.

Favourite Track:
Coming Storm
10Brymir
Voices In the Sky

MELODIC DEATH METAL/FOLK

Extremely solid melodeath with folk and power metal influence sprinkled in too. Lots of acoustic guitar too which is great. Maybe too cheesy at times though.

Favourite Track:
Herald of Aegir
9An Abstract Illusion
Woe

PROGRESSIVE METAL/MELODIC DEATH METAL

Excellent melodies make this album fly by.

Favourite Track:
Slave
8Greg Puciato
Mirrorcell

HARD ROCK/MATHCORE

A lot more streamlined than Child Soldier but slightly less experimental. Puciato is still a genius despite that.

Favourite Track:
Lowered
7Vitam Aeternam
Revelations of the Mother Harlot

AVANT GARDE ROCK

One of the weirdest albums I have ever heard. Best way I can describe it is if Mike Patton and Pain of Salvation made the Suspiria (1977) soundtrack. It is rather bloody good though.

Favourite Track:
Sick & Pious or Promethea
6White Ward
False Light

BLACK METAL/POST METAL

Black Metal + Jazz = Good

Favourite Track:
Leviathan
5Somewhere South of Here
Leave Me for the Crows

POP PUNK

Not too knowledgeable on this genre but this is probably one of the best albums that I have heard from it and Pines is without a doubt the best song that I have heard from it. Also finally got me to listen to The Menzingers.

Favourite Track:
Pines
4thoughtcrimes
Altered Pasts

MATHCORE

Dillinger mixed with Deftones is pure genius. The bands vocalist is insanely talented and riffs are excellent. Billy Rymer is a godly drummer.

Favourite Track:
Dare I Say
3Disillusion
Ayam

PROGRESSIVE METAL

This just gets better every listen. Soaring melodies and great vocals just make this so replayable.

Favourite Track:
Driftwood
2The Callous Daoboys
Celebrity Therapist

MATHCORE

Star Baby, that is all I need to say.

Favourite Song:
Star Baby
1Black Midi
Hellfire

PROG ROCK/NOISE ROCK

Insane and I love every second of this. Drumming is on point as always and the bands storytelling abilities have reached new heights entirely.

Favourite Track:
Dangerous Liaisons or Welcome to Hell
