pollastrerostit 07.09.20	Somehow the S/T is my favourite although the queen is close by. Reel around the fountain was my first smiths song I think and one that blew me and opened my mind to a lot more post/punk and even indie music. Still Ill is the other one I love. The Queen are all catchy and super well constructed songs, Bigmouth, Cemetery, The light,... maybe I listened to it too much when I discovered the band... Strangeways got better with the time Meat is murder is the one I never got fully into.. but it will happen at some point. It's like knowing one day there will be a new Smiths album because once it clicks it will be like a new discovery lol Hatful is one of the first vynil I got!

MillionDead 07.09.20	Not enough Hand in Glove or Handsome Devil mentions in this thread for top songs. Though they have a consistent array of exceptional tunes. Handsome Devil, with its really upbeat swing, really got me into the band though.

Dominated the 60s, started by mastering bubble gum pop, moved on to more experimental stuff and influence countless bands. 4 talented dudes with vibrant personalities. A variety of sounds, moods, and tones due to their growth as a band and as individuals. I can only stand Morrissey so long.

MillionDead 07.10.20	Fuck Morrissey, but I will always love The Smiths. Johnny Marr is one of the best to ever pick up a guitar. His playing is honestly deceptively technical, despite being consistently tuneful and catchy. Despite his eventual personality, Morrissey was an exemplary singer that struck upon adventurous, forward thinking melodies and wrote clever, funny lyrics to boot. The rhythm section was tight as shit at all times. Dunno what else you could want from a band.

While solo Morrissey fails a lot musically, in some songs he still retains that lyrical genius and charming and captivating delivery. Speedway for example
