| Underrated Killswitch Engage Song's
Digging a little deeper into KSE's discography to bring some underappreciated songs into the light.

Just Barely Breathing
The "Title Track" you could say off of their classic 2002 album Alive or Just Breathing is one that is filled with classic Killswitch riffs, screams and everything else a KSE fan would enjoy.
Beginning with a clean, somewhat eerie guitar riff, the song quickly builds one instrument at a time into a fast passed storm of harsh screams, double bass triplets and quick picking from both Adam and Joel. After lifting up into a more positive sounding clean sung chorus that singer Jesse Leach is best known for, the song really peaks at its second chorus, which consists of an echoed Jesse calmly singing melancholic lines such as "I've been waiting for you" while slow chugs fade out behind him. All slowly fading out into the distance to end this masterpiece of a song. | | 2 | Reject Yourself
Coming from their 2006 album As Daylight Dies, Reject Yourself displays some of former frontman Howard Jones best moments. Beginning with one of the most memorable and unique riffs ever made by the band, the song quickly builds into a prechorus predominately sung by guitar player Adam D and a soothing chorus directed by Mr. Jones himself, this song reflects all the best that Killswitch Engage are. Beautiful guitars and melodies lead this song into a smooth, faded end. | | 3 | My Life for Yours
Coming from their 2004 EP, The End of Heartache, this banger of a song was most likely lost considering it was never on a full length album. However, that didn't stop it from being arguably KSE's heaviest song to date. Despite a atmospheric yet inspiring chorus, this song drops into one of the heaviest breakdowns in Killswitch Engage's whole discography. I strongly believe they decided not to play this song live in order to keep their fans from killing one another. | | 4 | Still Beats Your Name
Another song released in the middle of their 2006 full length, Still Beats Your Name is home to one of the most unique and articulate song structures on the album. Consisting of two separate choruses sung back to back, singer Howard Jones flow seems to carry the song through endless emotions. Backed by Justin Foley's quick drum fills, Still Beats Your Name is definitely one worth revisiting. | | 5 | Embrace the Journey...Upraised
Every time I hear this song, it amazes me how underrated it is. Jesse Leach sings one of his best melodies in a banger of a chorus. Followed by a beautiful yet heavy layered ending that see's both Jesse and Adam singing and screaming in unison to finish the song. An all in all a beautiful, heavy song. | |
