| Elite Top 10 - Trifolium Edition
Ok Kaiwaz, this was super duper crazy hard, but I've done it. These are the albums that have stuck with me for a long time, they're the ones I enjoy the most right now, and that will very probably stay that way in the future. Good luck with making your lists! | 1 | | The Gathering How to Measure a Planet?
This is the one. It brings me all sorts of warm fuzzy feelings and comfort, beautiful guitar playing, singing, the best production ever, and top notch songwriting and originality. Travel will always make every hair stand on end, plus that t/t is a journey in itself. | 2 | | Portishead Dummy
Well duh. No need to explain really. Love Beth and the gang forever. Whole discog is basically perfect, but this one's special. Strangers gets me every time and Glory Box is a classic. That organ drone in Wandering Star is the catchiest moment ever. Roads brings the feels hard. The list goes on. What an album. | 3 | | Ulver Wars of the Roses
Ha. Yeah. Did it. Ulver have released so many stunning albums in so many different styles, but for some weird reason this has become my personal favourite. The ending of Island may have to do with that. Plus hello, Garm! Need I say more? | 4 | | Gas KΓΆnigsforst
This guy has released some perfect albums. KΓΆningsforst has this serene beauty to it that makes me come back for more every time. The fifth track specifically is out of this world. GAS needed to be here, and he won't go away. | 5 | | Opeth My Arms, Your Hearse
From the heavy stuff to the clean sections, the songwriting, and the flow, cohesion and narrative, this still is my favourite Opeth album. Every track is pure bliss, with When being in their top-3. And maybe April Ethereal too. | 6 | | DJ Krush Kaku-Sei
This guy makes the most delicious beats in the business, with this album showcasing superbly what he can do. For me a track like 85 Loop, with literally just a perfectly fleshed out drum loop, is all I need. And that vocal version of Final Home. Krush just knows how to keep tension in instrumental tracks, but when his tracks feature vocals, they totally fit. | 7 | | Miles Davis Kind of Blue
All Blues is my jam. Whole album is perfect, with that drumming being truly sensational. Obviously he has done many different things, and this one is super popular, but for all the right reasons. Jimmy Cobb reportedly said about the album that ''It must have been made in heaven.'', and he may very well be right. | 8 | | Emperor In the Nightside Eclipse
Another classic. Best BM album. Totally works, is sharp, aggressive, cold, has some super good guitar playing, and the main riff of I Am The Black Wizards is one of the best ever written in my opinion. | 9 | | Meshuggah Nothing (Re-release)
Yes, this one definitely needed to be there. The grooviest grooves, totally addictive. Has one of my favourite Jens-moments too, in Closed Eye Visuals, with the spacing of the ''A twirling visual overload - Explosions of terror and beauty - Colors of fear and pain within clash into unanything.'' over that immense groove. Also, that solo during Straws Pulled At Random is totally amazing and completely perfect. That final note man. Oof. | 10 | | Nina Simone Little Girl Blue
Nina needed to be on the list for sure, might be my fave singer ever. Don't have a connection with any of her albums specifically, but with her in general, so I picked her first studio release, the one that started it all. Plus this one has My Baby Just Cares For Me, which is utterly perfect. Thanks so much Nina. | |
