02.11.19 | which subs were you on? I've found some amazing underground shit on reddit |
SymbolicInTime
02.11.19 | For example, someone posted a track from State Champs’ latest album and I commented “This album has some fantastic tunes [listed my favorites], but then tracks like [listed bad tracks] really being down what this album could have accomplished. I’m hoping they can recapture Finer Things one day” and I get so many downvoted that my comment is hidden. It’s just dumb how little dissenting dialogue is tolerated amongst any of the music subs I’ve been in. And your posted songs only get upvotes if you post the most obvious, pandering shit. And if you post Captain Were Sinking or even Alk3 in the pop punk subred it goes completely unnoticed with a couple upvotes and then someone posts Bored To Death and everyone cums.
I know none of that really matters, but it just makes utilizing those sources unpleasant |
SymbolicInTime
02.11.19 | @Mighty I’ve only really looked through poppunkers and metalcore so far. Yeah some good stuff is posted here and there, but it’s just annoying how there’s no debate-aspect practically tolerated. I like discussions, finding stuff is my second priority, even though I know that’s dumb lol. Guess I’ll just have to forget trying to actually talk to people there and just stick to browsing the music |

I noticed this too which is strange because you'd think the reddit crowd would have more hipsters that listen to obscure shit. It does have the exact same problems as the ones mentioned for other subs though. I swear the paper planes video makes the front page once a month while you can't post shit like fly lo because he's "too popular" somehow, and if you say anything along the lines of "Illmatic isn't a top 5 album ever" you'll catch downvotes. There's also a shit ton of memes which can be a good or bad depending on what you intend to get out of the sub. |
