Obscure Prog Metal Recommendations

Just some prog metal albums that I hold as somewhat lost gems that need more appreciations.
1Corum
Not Myself

The confidence these guys had to play this kind of metal around 2000 must have been immense and their execution of it makes it all the sweeter. Some spectacular Voivod-inspired riffage along with some superb shred and rhythms. Hell, even the 12 minute acoustic number, Angel Beard, has some really compelling melodies and comes off surprisingly unskippable for me when listening to the whole thing. An underground triumph, for sure.
2Seer's Tear
Precious

Doom-laden prog from the U.K. that has stuck with me for a while and manages to incorporate elements of Psychotic Waltz, Deadsoul Tribe and even Confessor (!) at points. It's saddening to see that they only really managed to get one album out before their dissolution but it's a great one.
3Annon Vin
A New Gate

An incredible album from Germany that was produced by Ralph Hubert of Mekong Delta fame. Not only is the composition fantastic but this is one of the few prog metal vocal performances this early on that I've seen tackle Gentle Giant inspiration in terms of vocals. Among the best of '96, hands down.
4Sieges Even
Sophisticated

While Sieges Even are better known than much of the other bands on here, this is easily their least covered album (as is most of the Zenk era) and I think that it is by far the best in their discography, in my opinion. Really completed their transcendence beyond their early years from '88 to '90 which were quite overrated.
5Catharsis (USA-CA)
Pathways To Wholeness

Another unfortunately short-lived band from the U.S that conjures some badass riff formulas and has superb tinges of USPM and tech-thrash.
6Cea Serin
Where Memories Combine

Some darker and more morose prog metal that is in the vein of Nevermore but is somewhat more eclectic in terms of the overall instrumentation used. Shreds just as hard too. Came out the same year as Ink Compatible and Back to Times of Splendor but didn't receive the same treatment as either, unfortunately. Highly recommended.
7Vauxdvihl
To Dimension Logic

Really should be considered a '90s prog metal classic at this point since it easily builds upon the likes of albums like Rage for Order in ways few other albums have. Stunning.
8Pathos (SWE)
Uni Versus Universe

Had a hard time to pick which album I'd showcase from this band but I settled on this one as it has no ratings as of yet and is genuinely awesome overall. Somewhat thrashier fare from Sweden that still holds up quite well. Among the best of '98 for me.
9Mekong Delta
Kaleidoscope

So I put this band's more overtly progressive metal release on here since not one of this band's albums has over 100 ratings, making them by far one of the most underrated bands on this entire site. Guys were formative to both thrash and prog metal as a whole and they deserve far more attention than they receive now. Hell, even Thought Industry, an more off-the-wall band in general, has an album with a little over 100 ratings.
10Secrecy
Art In Motion

Honestly one of the best bands to never gain even much of a cult following with Art in Motion being a challenger for some of 1990's best albums despite it being one of the most stacked years in the entire genre, especially for the kind of music Secrecy was playing at the time. The lasting quality of this band's brief two album and two demo discography never quite ceases to amaze me.
11Holocaust (Gbr)
Hypnosis of Birds

One of the most absurdly potent stylistic shifts I have ever seen from a metal band, let alone from veterans of the NWOBHM. It has to be heard to be believed.
