fullautorpg 05.02.17	Again, most of these I enjoy and this is an opinionated list, so please don't crucify me.
Dedes 05.02.17	Wanna know an overrated band that will really get people all rustled? Darkthrone. Also people won't crucify you as hard if you can really justify your reasoning. Although this is Sput so yeah they'll still crucify you kind of.
dreamgauze 05.02.17	With you on 4 and 7 so hard... 4 kinda just that album though. Black Sabbath self-titled and Vol 4 are quite nasty, other stuff from that era is eh.
Dedes 05.02.17	The Beatles are vastly overrated yeah, mostly write ridiculously simple boring rock that just so happens to be catchy and contain occasional good hooks.

Sevengill 05.02.17	1-6 agree, last two not so much. Can't really defend Burzum though. It's just a state of mind; a hazy, introspective inner peace that the album brings.

I wanted more Morningrise style :(" Yeah they really released a big fuck you to fans of both Blackwater Park era Opeth and Morningrise/Still Life era Opeth with their last few records. I'd be certainly happy if they pulled out even a weaker successor to Morningrise.

dbizzles 05.02.17	I have..... feelings... about this. 3 is their best album. No, I haven't heard The Stage because I knew after City of Evil that I didn't need to hear them ever again to know they'd be producing a worse, more watered down version of it until they made enough money to die. Unholy Confessions and Chapter 4 are the best one-two this band ever stumbled into. 7? K, so that's not even the best Burzum album and if you don't like Varg or the style, then what did you expect? No shitty Dimebag ballads here. Move along. 8? Got over-hyped a bit for me when I was finally getting into Opeth, but it is still up there in the god-tier realm of metal that Opeth used to put out over and over before they turned in their balls for a sound even radio doesn't want. This was my first Opeth album and it served well to send me on a hour ey through their discog, but it's still not my favorite. Morningrise is my shit.
dbizzles 05.02.17	Oh, here's a positive comment since I was dick before. ALL of Dream Theater is overrated, imo. I'd say they are easily top-5 for most overrated bands in any genre. I haven't given them too much time nor have I focused on any specific album, but when everything you've heard by a progressive band sounds like said progressive band, when do we stop calling it progressive? They are just their own brand of 'OMG look at us, we are different! Look at us! Wow!' Sorry, guys, but fuck Dream Theater.
cylinder 05.02.17	agreed with 6.. and 8 probably too, tho it takes til like Dirge for November to fall off for me. the first four songs are perfect imo Paranoid is a masterpiece tho. i get what you're saying about the band but i think the fact that they put out so much good shit so quickly is enough to justify their position at the top
dbizzles 05.02.17	Yeah, my thing with Black Sabbath is I really wish I'd been around to see them put out shit like Paranoid. I'll never be able to grasp the impact they were making and I'll probably never appreciate them enough as a result.

manosg 05.02.17	Overrated my ass. 4-6 are metal classics and 2 & 7 are classics within their respective genres. It's one thing when you don't enjoy an album much or at all, which is perfectly acceptable, and another when you think that your taste is so great which makes the said albums overrated.

manosg 05.02.17	Does this make them overrated though? I mean, there will always be albums that we don't enjoy as much as a lot of guys. But going as far as to say that Black Sabbath who invented everything metal or The Beatles (who a couple of guys mentioned) who the vast majority of musicians such as Lemmy or even Brian Wilson admire, is too much. Our taste is one thing, being overrated is another.

Agree hard, the album as a whole is just not listenable, although the it also has some of their best material namely Hallowed and Run to the Hills. I will have to disagree on 2 and 8, love both those albums.

wham49 05.02.17	to be honest, BS has aged better than almost all the classic genre bands, they still sound fresh, and a good melding of metal, psych and doom, with a great jazz rhythm section to boot, I think that makes them seem so light and bouncy, while being so heavy at the same time
