10.02.16 | You can get some gnarly plugins using methods that aren't strictly legal if you're tight on cash. I can't help you on the Ableton side of things since I use Logic but look up some tutorials on mixing firstly. A bad mix can ruin a good song. In terms of composition it's like a muscle, gotta work at it to see results, make shit songs, eventually there'll be some good stuff sprinkled in there.
Plugin wise I mainly use; Fabfilter for mixing, Guitar Rig for clean tone, Omnisphere for synths, Klavier for pianos, GetGood Drums, some Waves plugins for processing drums, Albion One for orchestral stuff + a bunch of other stuff that's too long to mention here. Write with the preset stuff first though, it's good practice. Having good sounds doesn't equate to good music. I wrote most of my first EP with just preset stuff since I was starting out.
Hope that helps! | BallsDeep

10.02.16 | These were good bro, i thought the quality wasn't bad either it almost lended a retro vibe to the tracks , but what do i know | BandNewbac
10.02.16 | if you want my advice, dont invest in plugins. invest in a few good pieces of outboard gear and a microphone. now the outboard gear could be a reverb unit and some kind of filter (band pass, low pass) or you could get a multi effects unit that can do all those things (although i'd argue the sound will suffer, if only slightly). and get a tape recorder. sample things, sounds and notes and even ableton if you need too, and manipulate eveyrthing in real time. it will get you the best possible results for the kind of thing you are going for.
all of that probably sounds like it would cost quite a lot but you could get everything i mentioned to a good quality with a £200 (obviously will vary depending on currency) budget if you look in the right places. too often people resort to digital tools because analog ones are too expensive, when in reality this is just really not the case. | MercuryToHell
