Songs Under 3 Minutes Rec Contest Part 5

Sooooo you all think I'm gunna stay soft on ya? WRONG! For this round I want one song under 2 minutes. PLUS the recs this round must have 3 genre tags MINIMUM. *** THIS ROUND'S WINNER WILL PICK THE GENRE FOR NEXT ROUND *** *** THIS ROUND THE BOTTOM 6 PEOPLE WILL BE ELIMINATED AGAIN ***
1The Reign of Kindo
Play With Fire

*** DinosaurJones AND Drifter HAVE IMMUNITY THIS ROUND ***
2See You Next Tuesday
Parasite

dbizzles
8 Dead, 9 If You Count the Fetus
I have a soft spot for scene grind like this and this was pretty damn entertaining. The instrumentals were wilddd and I liked the variations of screams from shrieks, to deeps and a bit of pig squealing for good measure. There is an unfortunate sense of been-there-done-that to this track though which does hinder it bit. 3.8/5

3Old Gray
Slow Burn

UniqueUniverse
Communion
Starting off as melodic and restrained this track unhinges of its tracks in a grandiose fashion with passionate screamed vocals that cut through some rather lovely guitar melodies. I also really enjoyed the piano layered in there towards the end of the track, was really interesting. 4.4/5
4Ninja Sex Party
NSFW

DinosaurJones
Dinosaur Laser Fight
smh...I can't even. That whole part at 45 seconds with the EUGGHH and pew pew did make me laugh immensely BUT GOD this sounds like a song you'd see in a school video teaching you about science in elementary school (if there weren't cursing obviously) and not in a good way.

yeahhhhh no. 2/5

god you are lucky you are safe from elim....

reminder: NO
5Rise Against
The Sufferer & The Witness

Feather
Bricks
I hadn't heard this album in a long ass time and honestly forgot about this track. Anyhow, this track is on my favorite Rise Against album and as is to be expected from their best album this track fails to disappoint as a real sweet little punk track with a catchy lyrics and excellent vocals (the most enjoyable element of Rise Against for me). 4.2/5

SCREAM!
I Don't Care Where I Go When I Die
My anus was not ready SCREAM! this was borderline insanity with these extremely expressively jarring screams that basically just provide another layer to the absolutely bat-shit-crazy instrumentals. This track has me so so curious what I'd find on the rest of this album and was a great teaser for the rollercoaster I'm sure I'd be in for if I checked this album (which I will inevitably). 4.5/5

MyCarandMyGuitar
Orange Julius
I found this incredibly enjoyable as the bassline utilized here has a tone which I tend to gravitate towards in punk music of any style. The tone of this in general is a but darker in tone and balances well with the charismatic vocal approach that bobs along rather quickly and with a real nice energy. 4.6/5

Quick and to the Pointless
I had no idea QOTSA did such frenzied screams in any of their tracks, holy shit was this a load of fun. I now really REALLY wanna check these guys out cause the deep groove of this track paired with the rather spastic vocals approach here worked really well. This type of slow chugging works to well to highlight the rattling and highly expressive vocal work. 4.7/5
9Joliette
Atáxico

Dewinged
Verdadero por accidente
The riffs that initiate at the beginning of this track remind me of the aggression of a Converge song paired with a different more legible screamed approach that isn't quite as cathartic as them, but this still resonates quite well with me. 4.3/5

Quiet, Pull the Strings!

Trebor.
This Heart Easily Tears
God this was impressive as far as instrumentals and vocals go, but man does production just grate for me on this one... I know the real hardcore kids are gunna be like "the grittiness adds an edgy punk aesthetic to the music bro" but its so hard for me to come back to tracks with such piss poor production. I love what's going on, I love the vocals, the instrumentals etc... but at the end of the day, how often will I play this? I will definitely check this out, don't get me wrong here. This is up my alley and I really enjoyed it, but I just don't predict a heck of a lot of replay value here which does affect my overall opinion. 3.8/5

R. Kelly

Drifter
Heaven If You Hear Me
I honestly was NOT expecting to enjoy R. Kelly at all but man I gotta admit those vocals were smooth as butter and the little bit of bass and piano in the mix with the twinkly outro just flows so gracefully as the just under a minute track comes to a marvelous close. 4.7/5

Heaven help me, I loved an R. Kelly track, never thought I'd see the day...
12Orchid
Chaos is Me

CaimanJesus
Aesthetic dialect
Just as fun as the other Orchid tracks I've been rec'd previously and I dig this yet again. I won't daunt all of you with a samey sounding description of why I enjoyed this for that reason. However, each time I hear one of these tracks they slowly wear down on me a bit so maybe these guys are growing off me ever so slightly? 4.1/5

13Laura Stevenson
Sit Resist

AsleepInTheBack
Finish Piece
Looks like Asleep made a good choice with stepping out of the realm of his previous rec's with this beautiful Laura Stevenson track. The vocals here are so damn impressive and enjoyable to no end. I love the marvelous simplicity of female vocals backed only by soulful piano playing. Honestly, not a single complaint here. 5/5

***ROUND WINNER***
14United Nations
The Next Four Years

Prancer
False Flags
Stale vocals and not in a good way on this one, I got kinda bored by em not gunna lie, think the screaming tracks are starting to be a but much cause I keep hearing so many though, so I won't just rate this low keeping that in mind. I did find the instrumentals pretty sweet here and could definitely see checking more. Ehhhh feeling a 4/5 (at the moment) unfortunately for you Prancer.

A real sweet and spacey electronic pop track with a beautiful soundscape that serves as a delightful escape from reality. A short but marvelous journey. 4.4/5
