Songs Under 3 Minutes Rec Contest Part 4

In honor of making it to round 4 I now have a special surprise for all who made it. You must rec 1 song BUT it can be up to 4:44 seconds long this time. HOWEVER scores below 4 will be out automatically. If everyone scores above 4 I will be eliminating the 2 lowest scores this round.

Big L certainly has one of the best flows I've heard in hip hop. I always dig the hip hop tracks with haunting and dark/ creepy beats. He really has a pretty great tongue in cheek flow to his bars and I dig the whole death threat esque hip hop tracks like this one. My only real gripe is the whole old school hip hop production on this thing, it affects the replay value you for me and idk if I'd realistically see myself coming back to this much. 3.7/5

SCREAM!
16 Psyche
These vocals have a real eerie quality and the rather sullen instrumentation pairs perfectly with the vocals. The slow burn nature of these riffs with the rather sludgy overall sound do well to set the tone of this track. I really dug this could see coming back to more for sure. 4.2/5

I Can't Handle Change
Really like how this starts out with the twinkly xylophone to the deep toned bassline. Then we get some nice backing piano that provide some nice little background paired with these vocals. This track has a real classic vibe to it, like it will age really well. This just makes the cut for me sheerly cause this is probably a real nice lead in to more excellent material. 4/5

A nice little surprise here from my boy Dino with this really jazzy track. The vocals on this are superb and the way this invites you in with its beautiful piano bit is extremely enticing and it only gets better. I am soon swept away by cluster of instrumentation that includes bongos, maracas, some bits of trumpet, and a bass line that give this track and ever increasing change of pace that work well with the drums as it all balances on a scale of brilliance. I love the close of this on this with that charming violin piece. Really a flawless listen and a wonderful journey. 5/5

Definitely feel the dream pop nature of this track, its got a real lofty vibe to it with these guitar riffs. The rather loud and bumping bass line and the synth bits really give this an 80's vibe but unlike some people I'm pretty fond it here. The vocals here are another big plus here, Denise has a real smooth a luscious voice that soothes the mind a bit. 4.1/5

Some typical post punk which I gotta say has a lot of samey sound to it and vocally if it doesn't stand out, then it just falls to the wayside for me. Which in this case the vocals sound like about every other post punk classic I've heard and just feels fairly derivative. Instrumentals are nice and what not so I can't hate it but I don't really love it either and definitely do see myself spinning this much in the future. 3.3/5

Lost But Not All Gone
Love this one, the vocals have a real uplifting vibe and overall the track feels like something I'd listen to when I'm in a good mood. I really really enjoyed this one and don't have anything but nice things to say but I'll keep it short and sweet, I definitely want more of this in my life immediately. 5/5

Dead Flowers for Her
This was a real pleasant listen and even though he's safe, Caiman still put in a really solid rec here. Some lovely vocals, interesting instrumentation, great production and another artist I could definitely see digging into further. 4.2/5

This track had a real solemn vibe but also had felt real cinematic in away. I could almost paint a picture in my head of a protagonist walking alone through a desert mysteriously and wondering what would unfold next? I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else who hears this one but it was certainly what I felt. Regardless, it was like the beginning of a movie that I can't stop watching. 4.5/5

The Saints are Coming
At first I though this was gunna be a cheesy dad rock track with that awful intro, BUT I was pleasantly surprised when that bass kicked in and the vocals changed drastically (thank christ). The guitar riffs in this along with that glorious bass line give this track a ton of energy and the pitter patter of the drums that phase in and out also make for an overall really entertaining listen. Despite the terrible first 20 seconds the rest of this was real impressive. 4.2/5

This one was really fun, which when a track is instrumental like this one I want a lot of entertainment value. This did the trick. 4.3/5

This was one of the first times I heard a Radiohead track that I loved on first listen. Really touching vocal performance here and the instrumental were really nice. 4.3/5

God I really gotta listen to more of these guys too, I'm infatuated with these vocals and this was incredibly catchy and enjoyable, definitely up there with some of the best on this list and I have no complaints. 4.8/5

Static Shattering
Really technically impressive and I really REALLY like the riffs on this track, the switches between melodic melodies to the more doom metal inspired riffs this track keeps a nice balance of both and changes up vocally enough to maintain loads of interest. 4.4/5

Disarm
The strings on this track help to propel the power of what would be an already great alt rock track here to even greater heights. Lyrically I love the approach Corgan took as sort of a "kill them with kindness mentality." I am a firm believer that anger towards one another only escalates problems, so his approach here really resonated with me. 4.6/5

Treb showing up once again with another delightful emo rec. Loved the vocals, instrumentals and just everything about it really, can't say enough. 4.8/5
