I Love the Gaze

I'm not an expert but kinda wanna be. Been absolutely loving the 'gaze these days. Recs are greatly appreciated, although please don't mention Failure. I do not like that band.
1Slow Crush
Aurora

Like this a bit more than the follow-up, but band overall is incredibly solid
2Holy Fawn
Death Spells

Might need to bump this to a 5 eventually. It kinda slumps in the middle as far as memorability, but with more listens I'll probably grow to appreciate it more. Incredible band.
3Gleemer
Anymore

Outstanding band without a miss
4Leaving Time
I and II

A seriously underrated gem
5Pity Sex
Feast of Love

Band is pure fun. Love the Hum vibes in the vocals.
6Nothing
The Great Dismal
7Slowdive
Souvlaki

Admittedly I don't like this quite as much as some people around here, but still essential
8Hum
Downward Is Heavenward

One of my favorite bands of all time
9Swervedriver
Raise
10Superheaven
Jar

Kinda grungey I know, but also kinda gazey. Great record regardless.
11My Bloody Valentine
Loveless

Another essential

19Sleepwalk
Splatter
20The Smashing Pumpkins
Siamese Dream
21Bowery Electric
Beat

Absolutely adore the trip-hop feel of this. Very easy to get lost in. If there are any more bands adopting this much Portishead-worship, please let me know. I'm all for it.
22Swirlies
Blonder Tongue Audio Baton

This is way too punk sounding for my taste and the abysmal production grates my eardrums. I can tolerate a raw sound, but this guitar tone is horrible and the bass to way too loud in the mix. I think punk music is awful and this album is awful.
23Walrus
Hikari no Kakera
24Stella Luna
Stargazer

Nice EP with major dream pop vibes. Love the vocals. I wish this band had more music.
25Tokyo Shoegazer
Crystallize

Superb little album right here with some excellent songwriting. I'm getting some Cure influence in Just Alright which is always a treat.
26Kinoko Teikoku
Uzu Ni Naru

I thought this was just kinda okay. The songs are nice and there's clearly talent here, but the mix makes this feel like an alternative rock album. I'm more into the big droning guitars and relaxing vox. It's by no means bad, but not really my thing. Gave it a 3/5.
27Kraus
View No Country

Absolutely love the dreamy vibes of this and the drums are excellent. The is definitely catered to my taste. Will certainly check the rest of their discog.
28Alcest
Écailles De Lune

A gorgeous blackgaze classic

A melancholic wall of sound awash in hypnotic melodies and soul-piercing vocals. Love everything about this.
