07.09.17 | I feel like I've posted about/felt like this before, and that explanation probably seems completely incoherent, but idk writing about shit publicly is therapeutic.
but yeah, have any of you guys ever experienced anything similar? It'd be good to know I'm not the only one |

07.09.17 | Back from like 2010-2014 (basically college when I finally had a laptop) I was super into blog diving and finding new jams all the time. Getting into all the obscure bm stuff was like my main drive, then it sorta fizzed. Tastes changed and now I read and game more, idk. And now I don't even jam as much metal, it's really weird. |

07.09.17 | That's because new albums suck |

07.09.17 | Totally man, sometimes when you have an overabundance of music entering your ears the magic gets lost along the way. You have to ease back and rediscover that love. Return to the classics that reminds you how amazing music can be. |

07.09.17 | it comes and goes |

07.09.17 | it happens, especially when you have so much entering your taste at one time. i was like that a few months ago especially when work and school were really time consuming and i just didn't want to listen to shit that much |

07.09.17 | you gotta open up your music bubble dude. listen to genres you never would have before |
Funeralopolis
07.09.17 | I go through phases, I listened to nothing but metal for the last few months but now I'm sick of metal and want to jam as much pop and folk as possible. |

07.09.17 | Sure, I can relate to this in two ways. Lately I've had some sort of mystery illness that, among other things, randomly give me feelings of anxiety attached to the other symptoms, which sort of comes and goes, and I know that during these times I don't feel "myself" and music seems less meaningful and exciting to me than it usually does.
Other times I get too into my own groove of music, focusing on one sub genre or scene and exploring that til I get kinda burnt out, and then generally it's only a matter of time until some other Sub genre or style catches my attention and I get super into that. Generally this sort of cycles for me and I'll get excited for the other music again in a month or two. So yeah, maybe you just need something else to grab your attention, or you could try to revisit a style or genre you used to be more passionate about? |

07.09.17 | just keep jamming stuff dude. eventually something will click. |

07.09.17 | i think these sorta walls build up when you've spent awhile on the same few albums and one day realize they are not as universal as you thought. you conditioned yourself to scoff at anything that isnt pogressive-folk-death-jazz and one day you're like fuck i dont wanna listen to that anymore but now what. |

07.09.17 | An unfortunate side effect to anxiety and depression. I feel you man... I deal with this exact issue. It's a very good idea to jam nostalgic albums. Always helps me |
Alastor
07.09.17 | Stop listening to music for some time. You clearly overdosed on this drug. |

07.09.17 | As time goes on I've enjoyed more types of music, but been less impacted by it as a whole. It's like if music were bodies of water, it used to be a pond - always cool and deep but not very widespread/diverse. Now it's like a long, winding creek - omnipresent in my life, but never as deep or impactful, just kind of there and pretty.
tl;dr: music, like anything, has diminishing returns...the key is to give yourself breaks and to branch out into as many genres as possible to keep things fresh |

07.09.17 | yeah i feel the same cba to listen to most new releases atm. usually by this time of the year i have at least two or three 5s but so far the only thing ive listened to more than a few times is the new Carly Rae Jepsen track, so i guess thats my SOTY so far |

07.09.17 | Gone through the exact same thing recently, discussed it a little bit in my last list, related but different topic: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1064844.
I think you are spot on though, take some time with some old favourites and when you check new stuff take it slow, take your time and allow stuff to grow on you without forcing yourself to enjoy new music. Hope you break through this soon, periods like that suck. Just keep jamming the glow pt2 |

08.02.17 | Metal is depressive. |

08.02.17 | It happens, man. Occasionally, nothing sounds exciting or interesting to me, even stuff I typically love. When that happens, I take a break and dive into podcasts, start watching TV or just give my ears a break and stop listening to music or just bombarding myself with media in general.
I think it's more burnout than anything else. |

08.02.17 | music died with pink floyd |
Papa Universe
08.02.17 | I'm getting into the similar situation more and more lately. I listen to so much stuff that at this point, unless the presented album is some kind of a revolutionary testament of originality, I usually dismiss it as average. It's just really hard to impress me beyond "yeah, it was good" nowadays. |
