2024 Grammy AOTY noms RANKED

thought this was an interesting collection of albums that would be fun to rank.
8Jon Batiste
World Music Radio

[2.5]
the first quarter of this is pretty bad but it improves as it goes on. did not enjoy this much at all ultimately.
7Taylor Swift
Midnights

[2.7]
maybe my least favorite non-reputation tswift album. some huge highlights (anti-hero, karma) and an interesting idea for an album but the execution just isn't there for the most part. a lot of this bleeds together.
6Boygenius
the record

[3.0]
i've tried this album numerous times over the past year and just do not get much of anything from it. perfectly fine.
5Janelle Monae
The Age of Pleasure

[3.3]
weird nomination for aoty that largely hinges on monae's reputation but this is ultimately pretty fun and not nearly as bad as I was lead to believe? under-baked by her standards but a good time all things considered.
4Miley Cyrus
Endless Summer Vacation

[3.6]
i apologize miley, i was not familiar with your game. "flowers" was one of my fave "big songs" of 2023, but i did not expect the rest of the album to be of comparable quality. miley really goes for it on a lot of these songs, "jaded" and "used to be young" in particular are supremely catchy. her voice really suits this muted pop rock style.
3Lana Del Rey
Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd

[3.8]
the album that finally made lana click for me. this thing is just a vibe with a fair amount of highlights pretty evenly distributed across the tracklist. the interludes are stupid and messy but if that's not lana's modus operandi than what is? i now know there's a tunnel under ocean blvd, thank you lana.
2SZA
S.O.S.

[3.9]
this album made my top 10 of 2022 but has grown off slightly due to it being inescapable over the past year. maybe the run time is too long? still love most of this
1Olivia Rodrigo
Guts

[4.2]
can't get enough of this. #7 on my year end list, i do not believe there is a bad song on here. even the ones i didn't initially like (get him back, logical) have grown on me immensely. if this ends up being the best thing she ever puts out i think that is a more than fine achievement.
