Havey 12.18.23	kendrick/lorde/staples all in the top 10 makes it look like a pitchfork list though (kelela would've been the best pick in this category), i prefer years that rank higher in the sput-specificity stat

BlazinBlitzer 12.18.23	2013's slightly the best, 2018's easily the worst. 2020 is unique in that Charlie XCX and Ichiko Aoba are most deserving of a place trade on the whole list. Also seeing No Heroes as 2006's #1 pick and Brand New not even on the list is fascinating.

Demon of the Fall 12.19.23	decent pick for #1, last year's list doesn't look as 'typical' as a few of the others. Distinct personality, variety etc. Perhaps it won't look that way in a few years though, lol 2011 is a sad sight on first glance and a few are just irredeemably dull Hell of an effort here / commiserations
izakaya 12.20.23	2016 reads like a sputnik-core course-correction attempt for 2014 & 15 being so p4k-lite 2017 is a bit embarassing. lots of flannel-wearing dad stuff 2019 & 2020 have 3-4 albums that would make my list so I'll give my picks to them. last year's is good (although maybe the closest to rym?)
AlexKzillion 12.20.23	hmm last year has that big thief/alvvays/black country rym super trinity but i think the rest is pretty uniquely sput (especially considering chat pile's connection to the site) also i think i dig the 2017 a ton six years later because i feel like as damn and big fish theory have evolved more into high school nostalgia... i appreciate stuff like sleep well beast and after the party a lot more today whereas in 2017 i thought that stuff was totally lame.

AlexKzillion 12.20.23	i've actually already done the same for the sput community top 10s over the same time period (couldn't find anything from before 2010), but gonna hold off until the staff 2023 top 10 list is posted so i can update this one + this list is pushed off the featured column the community top 10s are actually pretty different from the staff ones, but are fairly even quality wise.

JohnnyoftheWell 12.22.23	fwiw I fully expected to Summer Moon to win for a while, but the voterbase has shifted (or more accurately, broadened) just enough that the straight sputcore ticket ain't worth quite as much as it used to be biggest variable for staff lists over the last few years is the odds of the metal ballots finding any given alb to agree on (and the devastating consequences when they do - see Mastodon and Katatonia)
